AVP- Business Unit Control

The Global Markets Business Finance teamcomprises Business Unit Control Independent Price Verification andCentral MI and Change Management teams. The team supports theGlobal Markets and Group Treasury businesses locally andinternationally. The unit falls under the Group Finance departmentand reports to the CFO CIB Finance &International.

Key priorities ofthis roleinclude:

• Providingworld class financial reporting & support services addingvalue through providing professional independent &objective financial advice which assist in the achievement ofbusiness objectives whilst complying with Group policies andstandards and external statutoryobligations.
• Production of financial &management accounting reporting statements for the functional areaof responsibility in line with Group reporting standards whilstmaintaining a robust controlenvironment.

The Business UnitControl team is responsible for accounting and financial reportingof the Global Markets & Treasury business acting as aprimary control function and monitoring trading activity to ensureit is in a specified remit. Tasks include Profit & Loss(P&L) reporting decomposition and attribution dealing withad hoc management reporting queries reconciliation andsubstantiation of P&L and Balance Sheet between the GeneralLedger (Oracle General Ledger & OneSumX) and Source (e.g.Murex). This role is focused on the daytoday tasks related to theInternational Business Unit Control function such as dailypreparation and control of P&L general ledgerreconciliations and variance analysis explanations commentaries andMIreporting.

Specificaccountabilities:

Financebusiness partner and trusted advisor on reporting and daytodaysupport of the Global Markets business providing prompt andeffective support to the Global Markets Front Office Market RiskGroup Treasury Group Financial Planning & Analysis GroupFinancial Reporting and Product Control management.
Comprehensive P&L analysis including detailed analysis andinterpretation of daily results variances risk positions realizedand unrealized P&L components revaluation curve movementswith P&L attribution new deals cancelled and amended tradesand price / rate validation.
Key liaison for salesreporting playing a vital role between GM Products and Sales whichincludes segmental & coveragebased reporting.
Keybusiness finance contact for all Global Markets Front Officerelated queries leading discussions as appropriate with FrontOffice to ensure P&L analysis is agreed. Act as one of theprime points of contact across all processes in order to ensure allcustomer needs are being met.
Provide relevant support toVP Business Control Unit ensuring all business transacted iscompliant safe and sustainable
Compilation of all dailyrevenue reporting for the business ensuring the accuracy andintegrity of source system interfaces into the GeneralLedger.
Provide independent validation of the financialsreported for the GM businesses by maintaining a robust controlframework between FO and reported financials. Maintain a strongunderstanding of the products traded and the trading strategieswithin the business.
Understanding of specific businessmodels analysis of structured deal packages and application ofappropriate accounting standard thereupon. To provide professional& ethical behaviours by ensuring compliance with externallegislation bank standards internal operating policies andprocedures.
Participating in budget discussions andanalyzing various approaches methods to conceptualize budget forthe year for the desk under controllers review.
Managingthe day to day and month end controls of P&L and BalanceSheet reconciliation substantiation and reporting for GM.
Support of new business requests ensuring they are controlledthrough the existing or new system architecture providingresponsive support to front office ensuring speed to market of newproducts.
Manage projects driven by new regulatoryrequirements in local and International locations to ensure the keycriteria of the regulation is met in a sustainable efficient andeffective manner
Line of Business and Desk levelcommentary with market relevance when internal P&Lthresholds are breached.
Ensure compliance and control ofspecific accounting processes and practices for proposed newproduct initiatives or product variations.
Responsiblefor identifying issues which impact GM and implementingsolutions.
Act as a central point of contact for GroupFinance functions and Global Markets desks: Financial &Regulatory Reporting Treasury FP&A Tax Financial Controlrelating to GM Products and Valuation Control

In conjunction with FP&A continuouslyassess the quality of service provided to the principal customersand strive to ensure that the area adds value to their objectivesthrough the provision of accurate and valuable financial data andadvice.
Ensure PC adopt a proactive attitude to changingenvironments both internal and external and provide value addedsolutions for Global Markets Finance business partner and trustedadvisor on reporting and daytoday support of the Global Marketsbusiness.
Engender and role model a culture of continuousimprovement ensuring that operations are kept continually underreview and that all opportunities for reengineering and achievingeconomies of scale are identified implemented.
Escalateany issues to the management and assist in mitigating anyoperational risk.
Review existing systems / processes /procedures and MIS to proactively identify areas ofimprovements.
Use of sophisticated arithmetic models fornumerical analysis and evaluation. Writing papers on strategy orother complex issue with logical sequencing and supportingrecommendations. Synthesizing information from a variety of sourcesand extracting relevant concepts / themes.
Preparing anddelivering presentations with context across business functions todeliver maximum impact.
Participate in the identificationof opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability ofsystems processes and practices considering global standardsproductivity improvement and cost reduction.
A provenability to operate effectively at various organization levels& a willingness to adopt a handson approach to problemsolving where appropriate.
Good relationship managementskills are essential in this role as the candidate will be workingclosely with internal stakeholders to constantly improveoperationalperformance.

Qualifications:

Qualified Professional(ACA / CFA /MBA in Finance) preferred or 35 years experience in aProduct Control Function.
Experience in developingFinancial and other MI reporting automating processes.
Technical knowledge in Pricing and Accounting Financial productsFixed Income MM FX IR Com Equities & Derivatives (Vanilla& Complex)
Strong understanding of Global Marketsand Investment Banking products with related Technical andAccounting treatments. Excellent understanding of modern governancerisk and control assessment techniques.
Strong financialmaths (zero par and forward / forward curves).
Workingknowledge and experience in Murex SumX PowerBI T24 systems is anadvantage.
