The Tax Accountant, is responsible forsubmitting tax forms on behalf of clients to pay the appropriateamount and maximize the client's return. Their dutiesinclude interviewing clients about their income and expenses,auditing account details and acting as a liaison between clientsand the IRS.

The TaxAccountant will perform many accounting, customer service andorganizational tasks to help maintain the financial health of theirclients or employer. Their duties and responsibilities ofteninclude:

  • Informing clients oremployers on the tax preparationprocess
  • Collecting relevant financial records,including pay stubs and incomestatements
  • Inputting data from financialrecords into tax return software ordatabases
  • Using applicable federal, state andlocal tax law to determine deductions and how much each client willpay or earn on the return
  • Completing and filingtax documents with appropriate agencies, like the IRS, state andlocal government entities
  • Acting as arepresentative for clients with applicable agencies asrequired
  • Building customer relationships topromote and expand the business
