Roles and responsibilities
  • Distributes the manpowerbased on the site engineer instruction
  • Controland monitor the materials and tools received from the projectstore
  • Coordinates with other activities in theproject.
  • Control and monitor project executionteam for the right productivity
  • Plans therequirements of material and communicate to the SiteEngineer.
  • Ensures the quality ofworkmanship
  • Ensures the control for lessmaterial waste and the skilled/semi-skilled timewaste
  • Ensures the follow up of all HSE rulesand measures
  • Control & monitor the workprogress at site as per project timeframe.
  • Handles the Testing &Commissioning of the project systems.

Requirements

  • Diploma in either Mechanical orElectrical
  • Minimum of 6 – 10 years ofrelevant experience
  • Language –English
  • Communication

  • SupervisionofWorkers:

    • ManagingTeam Members: The foreman supervises the work oflaborers, tradespeople, and other workers on-site, ensuring thateveryone is following the work plan, adhering to safety guidelines,and performing their tasksefficiently.
    • TaskAssignment: Assigning specific tasks to workersbased on their skills and experience. They ensure the correctnumber of workers are allocated to each task, and work is performedaccording topriorities.
    • Motivating andSupporting the Team: Providing leadership andmotivation to the workforce, resolving any issues that arise, andensuring that the team works welltogether.

  • ProjectExecution andMonitoring:

    • OverseeingWork Progress: The foreman ensures that the projectis progressing according to schedule, checking the quality of workbeing done, and making adjustments as needed to meetdeadlines.
    • QualityControl: Ensuring that the work being done meetsquality standards and project specifications. This may involveperforming inspections, checking work accuracy, and ensuring thework is completed to the requiredstandards.
    • Troubleshooting andProblem-Solving: Addressing any issues that ariseduring the work process, such as delays, equipment malfunctions, orwork errors, and finding solutions to keep the project ontrack.

  • Healthand SafetyCompliance:

    • EnsuringSafety Standards: The foreman plays a crucial rolein ensuring that safety regulations are followed on-site. Thisincludes enforcing the use of personal protective equipment (PPE),conducting safety briefings, and overseeing the correct handling oftools and machinery.
    • ConductingSafety Inspections: Performing routine safetyinspections of the worksite, identifying potential hazards, andimplementing corrective actions as necessary to preventaccidents.
    • EmergencyPreparedness: Ensuring that all workers know thesafety protocols in case of an emergency and that safety equipmentis readily available andfunctional.

  • ResourceManagement:

    • Materialand Equipment Management: The foreman ensures thatthe necessary materials, tools, and equipment are available andproperly maintained for the team to complete theirtasks.
    • Monitoring ResourceUse: Tracking the use of materials and tools, makingsure that resources are used efficiently and in line with theproject plan.
    • InventoryControl: Coordinating with procurement or otherdepartments to ensure that supplies and equipment are delivered ontime and in the correctquantities.

  • CommunicationandReporting:

    • Liaisingwith Supervisors and Managers: The foremancommunicates regularly with project managers, site managers, orconstruction managers to provide updates on the project'sprogress, address issues, and report any delays orconcerns.
    • Reporting on WorkProgress: Maintaining detailed records of workperformed, any issues encountered, hours worked, and materialsused, and reporting this information to the managementteam.
    • Interacting with Clientsand Stakeholders: Depending on the industry, theforeman may also need to interact with clients, customers, or otherstakeholders to provide updates or clarify projectdetails.

  • TrainingandDevelopment:

    • TrainingNew Workers: The foreman often plays a role intraining new workers or less experienced staff. They ensure thatall workers understand the tasks they are assigned, the safetyprotocols, and how to use the equipmentproperly.
    • SkillDevelopment: Helping workers develop their skills onthe job, providing feedback, and mentoring team members to improveperformance.

    • Ability tomanage resources, schedules, and personnel efficiently to ensurethe smooth running of theproject.

    • Thoroughunderstanding of workplace safety regulations, and the ability toenforce safety protocols and conduct riskassessments.

    • Ability toprioritize tasks and manage time effectively to keep the project onschedule and meetdeadlines.

    • Physicalfitness to be on-site for long hours, overseeing workers andhandling tasks that may require manualeffort.
