Roles and responsibilities

3.1 Ensures that Ophthalmologicalcare rendered meets Joint Commissionstandards.

3.2 Monitors within establishedguidelines the quality of care provided. Participates inreview/study of difficult and special cases.

3.3Monitors the eye care rendered on a daily basis to ensure thatJoint Commission standards are met.

3.4 Keepsinformed as to current developments in the field ofophthalmology.

3.5 Participates in weekly roundsand peer reviews.

3.6 Coordinates with the HOD inplanning programs, integrating the curative and preventive aspectsof total patient care.

3.7 Participates in theimplementation of approved curative/preventive programs as theyrelate to Ophthalmology.

3.8 Participates in QAprograms as requested by the MedicalAdministrator.

3.9 Orients new staff whenrequested to do so.

3.10 Communicates regularlywith HOD and other members of the service.

3.11Takes an active role in teaching activities provided for nursing& ancillary staff.

3.12 Participates oncommittees as requested by the MedicalAdministrator.

3.13 Strictly observesorganization's medical regulations and policiesespecially those related to infection control, patient safety,patient assessment and patient care.

3.14Performs other miscellaneous duties as requested by theHOD.

3.15 Comply with all OSH and infectioncontrol policies, standards and procedures and cooperate withhospital management to comply thoserequirements

3.16 Work accordance with thedocumented OSH procedures and instructions, specificresponsibilities

3.17 Be familiar with emergencyand evacuation procedures

3.18 Notifying OSHHazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with thepreparation of risk assessments, incidentreports

3.19 Comply with Waste managementprocedures and policies

3.20 Attend applicableOSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awarenessprograms

3.21 Use of appropriate personalprotective equipment and safetysystems

Qualifications

4.1Graduation from an approved medical school plusinternship.

4.2 Three years residency inOphthalmology culminating in procuring a Post-GraduateMaster's degree and/or equivalent Fellowships approved byHAAD.

4.3 Three or more year'sexclusive practice of ophthalmology sincecertification.

4.4 Must have HAAD License topractice.

4.5 English is required to preparedocumentation and it is used as the common language to communicatewith different nationalities. Basic knowledge of medical Arabicdesirable.

4.6 Must have a thorough knowledge ofmedical ethics.
