ESSENTIAL DUTIES& RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver courses to students inspecified discipline areas of study
- Evaluateand monitor individual student progress and provide feedback tosustain student success
- Organize and manageinstructional resources, courses outlines, and communitynetworks
- Conduct high-quality research inhis/her own field and publish research outcomes in reputablejournals and conferences.
- Ensure a respectfuland culturally sensitive learning environment in allcollege-focused activities
- Establish andmaintain effective work relationships across the organization andcommunity
- Motivate and inspire confidence inothers (students and colleagues) to overcome limitations topersonal growth and success
- Actively seek outmethods, procedures, and resources to best achieve course andlesson objectives
- Maintain relationships withstudents that are conducive to learning
- Performmiscellaneous job-related duties asassigned
- Supervising dental students in theclinical training on evidence-based dentistry.

Desired candidate profile
1.Teaching andInstruction
- Lecturing:Delivering lectures and seminars on various aspects of endodontics,including anatomy, diagnosis, treatment planning, root canaltherapy, and advanced procedures like microsurgery or regenerativeendodontics.
- CourseDevelopment: Designing, updating, and improvingcurricula related to endodontics for dental students, residents,and potentially dental hygiene or dental assistant programs. Thisincludes developing syllabi, lectures, case studies, andassessments.
- ClinicalTeaching: Supervising dental students and residentsduring clinical rotations, guiding them through real-worldendodontic procedures, providing hands-on instruction, and offeringconstructive feedback on their clinicalskills.
- LaboratorySessions: Conducting and supervisinglaboratory-based training where students practice endodonticprocedures, such as root canal therapy and other treatments, usingmodels or cadavers before working with livepatients.
2. ClinicalPractice andSupervision
- ClinicalPractice: Some Associate/Assistant Professors inEndodontics also maintain a clinical practice, where they treatpatients directly, particularly in the academic setting, where theymay provide complex endodontic treatments to the community whilementoring students.
- ClinicalSupervision: Overseeing the clinical work of dentalstudents or residents, ensuring that they perform endodonticprocedures safely, effectively, and in compliance with the bestpractices. Offering real-time advice and adjusting treatment plansas needed.
- PatientManagement: Teaching students how to interact withpatients, explaining procedures, obtaining consent, and managingpatient care throughout the endodontic treatmentprocess.
3. Researchand ScholarlyActivity
- ResearchProjects: Conducting original research in the fieldof endodontics, which may include areas such as root canal therapyinnovations, pain management, regenerative endodontics, diagnostictechnologies, or treatmentoutcomes.
- ResearchCollaboration: Collaborating with other dentalresearchers, specialists, or academic institutions oninterdisciplinary projects. Research topics could range from basicscience to clinical applications inendodontics.
- Publishing:Writing and publishing research in peer-reviewed dental journals,presenting at conferences, and contributing to the scientificcommunity’s understanding of endodontic techniques andadvancements.
- GrantWriting: Applying for research grants to fundstudies related to endodontics. This includes seeking government,industry, or academic funding for ongoing or newprojects.
4. StudentMentorship andSupervision
- Graduateand Postgraduate Supervision: Supervising graduatestudents or residents in endodontics, particularly in their thesisprojects or clinical research. Providing guidance on researchmethodology, case studies, clinical protocols, and writingdissertations.
- Advising:Serving as an academic and career advisor to students in theendodontics program. Offering guidance on course selection, careeropportunities, and clinical or researchinterests.
- InterdisciplinaryEducation: Encouraging students to learn about thebroader aspects of dentistry, including collaboration with otherspecialties such as periodontics, prosthodontics, or oral surgery.This is vital for comprehensive patientcare.
5. AcademicService and DepartmentalResponsibilities
- DepartmentalLeadership: Participating in departmental meetings,curriculum development, and assessment activities. Contributing tothe strategic direction of the endodontics department within thedental school.
- CommitteeParticipation: Engaging in university or dentalschool committees focused on academic governance, researchdevelopment, or studentaffairs.
- Accreditation:Assisting in ensuring that the endodontics program meetsaccreditation standards set by dental accrediting bodies, ensuringthat students receive quality education andtraining.
