Roles and responsibilities
  • Lead the specification,design, and procurement of static and rotating equipment packages(e.g., compressors, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, flare packages,KODs, Drain pots).
  • Ensure compliance withproject requirements, industry standards (e.g., API, ASME), andclient specifications.
  • Develop and reviewpackage specifications, data sheets, and technical bidevaluations.
  • Select and design equipment tomeet project requirements and optimizeperformance.
  • Ensure equipment compatibilitywith existing infrastructure andsystems.
  • Collaborate with vendors to resolvetechnical issues
  • Coordinate with theprocurement team to ensure timely and cost-effective packagedelivery.
  • Expedite vendor documentation,drawings, and delivery schedules.
  • Ensure vendorcompliance with project requirements and qualitystandards.
  • Ensure seamless integration ofequipment packages with overall projectdesign.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines(e.g., piping, electrical, instrumentation) to ensurecompatibility.
  • Manage interfaces with vendors,contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure equipmentdesign and selection meet safety and qualitystandards.
  • Participate in HAZOP and othersafety reviews.
  • Implement quality controlprocedures for package engineering

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering(B.Sc./B.Eng./M.Sc.)
  • Membership of a recognizedprofessional institute preferred
  • Minimum of 20years' experience in the oil and gasindustry
  • Minimum of 20 years proven capabilityin an engineering design company
  • Expertise instatic and rotating equipment, package specification, andprocurement.
  • Experience of working withmulti-national and multi-cultural project teams is stronglypreferred
  • Previous experience of working in theMiddle East would be an advantage

Desired candidate profile

1. Mechanical Design andEngineering

  • Expertisein designing mechanical systems, equipment, andcomponents.
  • Proficient in using CAD software(e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA) to create and modifydesigns.
  • Strong understanding of materialproperties and selection, as well as mechanical principles (stress,heat transfer, fluid dynamics,etc.).

2. ProjectManagement &Leadership

  • Ability tolead a team of engineers, drafters, and technicians to delivermechanical design and systems.
  • Effectiveplanning and scheduling of engineering tasks and resources,ensuring project milestones aremet.
  • Responsible for coordinating betweendepartments (e.g., electrical, civil, procurement) to ensureseamless project execution.

3.Problem-Solving &Troubleshooting

  • Skilledin diagnosing mechanical failures, identifying root causes, andimplementing corrective actions.
  • Ability toinnovate and develop solutions to complex engineeringproblems.

4. MechanicalSystem Analysis &Simulation

  • Proficiencyin using simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL) to analyze theperformance of mechanical systems and components under variousconditions.
  • Conducting stress, fatigue, andthermal analysis to ensure the safety and functionality ofdesigns.

5. QualityControl & StandardsCompliance

  • Ensuringdesigns and implementations meet industry standards and regulations(e.g., ASME, ISO, ASTM).
  • Conducting designreviews, inspections, and quality assurance testing to verify thatmechanical systems meet requiredspecifications.
  • Familiarity with industry codesand safety regulations.

6.Vendor and SupplierManagement

  • Managing andcoordinating with external suppliers and manufacturers formaterials, components, and services.
  • Evaluatingand selecting vendors based on quality, cost, and leadtimes.
  • Negotiating contracts and ensuringadherence to project timelines.

7.Budget and CostManagement

  • Overseeingthe budget for mechanical engineering projects, ensuringcost-effective solutions areimplemented.
  • Estimating costs for design,materials, and fabrication, while maintaining cost controlthroughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identifyingopportunities for cost-savinginnovations.
