Roles and responsibilities

1. Land Measurement andMapping

  • ConductingSurveys: Performing field surveys to measure landfeatures, boundaries, and contours. This involves using specializedinstruments like total stations, GPS, and laserscanners.
  • Mapping PropertyBoundaries: Identifying and marking land boundariesto establish property lines and easements, ensuring accuracy inproperty documentation and legaldescriptions.
  • TopographicSurveys: Producing detailed topographic maps showingthe contours and elevations of the land. These maps are essentialfor civil engineering and constructionprojects.
  • As-BuiltSurveys: Measuring existing conditions on a site,such as buildings, roads, utilities, and other structures, tocreate as-built drawings or to verify constructionprogress.

2. Use ofSurveyingInstruments

  • TotalStations: Operating electronic total stations tomeasure angles and distances and compute precise locations for landboundaries and constructionprojects.
  • GPSTechnology: Using GPS receivers to obtain accuratecoordinates of land features and ensure high-precision measurementsover large areas.
  • LaserScanners: Utilizing 3D laser scanners to capturehighly detailed land topography and infrastructurefeatures.
  • SurveyingSoftware: Employing software like AutoCAD, GIS, andspecialized surveying programs to process and analyze field data,create maps, and generate accuratereports.

3. Boundaryand LegalSurveys

  • BoundaryDetermination: Identifying and verifying propertyboundaries for legal purposes, including subdivisions, land sales,and disputes.
  • Property Deeds andLegal Descriptions: Reviewing legal documents, suchas property deeds and titles, to understand boundary lines andeasements. Creating accurate legal descriptions for landtransactions.
  • Easements andEncroachments: Identifying and documentingeasements, rights of way, or encroachments that may affect landdevelopment or use.

4.Site Surveys for ConstructionProjects

  • ConstructionStaking: Marking the layout of a construction sitebased on design plans, ensuring that buildings, roads, utilities,and other infrastructure are correctly positioned on theland.
  • Excavation andGrading: Ensuring that excavation and grading workaligns with the approved design and that elevations are maintainedcorrectly for proper drainage and foundationplacement.
  • Monitoring SiteProgress: Regularly revisiting the site to checkthat construction work aligns with the survey data, and makingadjustments if necessary.

5.EnvironmentalSurveys

  • Topographicand Environmental Mapping: Collecting data onnatural features like rivers, streams, vegetation, and otherenvironmental factors that could impact constructionprojects.
  • Wetlands and FloodplainSurveys: Mapping wetlands, floodplains, and otherprotected areas, ensuring compliance with environmental regulationsand permittingrequirements.
  • GeodeticSurveys: Conducting large-scale geodetic surveys tomonitor land movements, such as in areas with seismic activity orfor long-term environmentalmonitoring.

6. DataCollection andAnalysis

  • FieldData Collection: Gathering data through directmeasurements, GPS coordinates, and observations in thefield.
  • DataProcessing: Using specialized software to processsurvey data and create accurate land maps, 3D models, or CADdrawings.
  • Analysis andReporting: Analyzing collected data to ensure theaccuracy of maps and reports. Preparing technical reports anddelivering data to project teams, architects, engineers, orgovernment officials.
Desired candidate profile
  • Performs a variety of tasks in support ofsurvey or construction activities.
  • Duties maydiffer depending on the specialtyarea.
  • Activities may include setting up andoperating equipment; inspecting equipment; inspection ofengineering installations for compliance with specifications;maintaining project documentation; assisting with the building,repair, or maintenance of a structure orroadway.
  • Relies on basic understanding ofprocedures and company policies to plan and accomplish basicgoals.
  • Performs a variety of routine tasks andworks under close supervision.
  • Entry-levelposition; may not require previousexperience.
  • Aware of Civil Infrastructure worksincluding roads, wet utilities and drry utilities inUAE.

  • BachelorDegree/Diploma in relevant Engineering field (i.e. Civil , Geodeticor related field.)

Experience

  • Theideal candidate to be Civil Engineering graduate with minimum 7+years' experience in land surveying field and setting outof works of similar nature or Diploma holder with minimum 10+years' experience in the land surveying field in similarworks.
