Roles and responsibilities

  1. PipingDesign andEngineering:

    • Lead thedesign, engineering, and layout of piping systems, ensuring theymeet industry standards, client specifications, and regulatoryrequirements.
    • Oversee the preparation ofpiping design drawings,isometric drawings, andpiping material specifications(P&IDs).
    • Conduct stress analysis andsimulations for piping systems to ensure they can withstandoperational conditions and externalfactors.
    • Ensure the proper selection ofmaterials for pipes, fittings, valves, and other components,considering factors such as pressure, temperature, and chemicalcompatibility.

  2. ProjectManagement andCoordination:

    • Manageand coordinate all aspects of piping projects from conceptualdesign through to installation andcommissioning.
    • Define project scopes,timelines, and deliverables and ensure that projects are executedin accordance with schedules andbudgets.
    • Collaborate with other engineeringdisciplines (e.g., mechanical, structural, electrical) to integratepiping systems with other systems within the facility orinfrastructure.
    • Oversee the coordination ofthird-party contractors, suppliers, and vendors involved in pipingprocurement andinstallation.

  3. TeamLeadership andMentoring:

    • Lead andmentor a team of piping engineers, designers, and draftsmen,ensuring that they are well-trained and workingefficiently.
    • Provide guidance on technicalissues, solving complex problems, and ensuring that the teamadheres to project specifications and safetystandards.
    • Conduct performance reviews andprovide career development opportunities for teammembers.

  4. QualityControl andAssurance:

    • Ensure thatall piping designs and installations meet industrycodes and standards, such as ASME, ASTM, and API, aswell as client-specific requirements.
    • Developand implement quality control procedures to ensure the integrityand safety of piping systems.
    • Conductinspections and supervise testing of piping systems duringfabrication and installation to ensure compliance with designspecifications.

  5. Safetyand RiskManagement:

    • Ensure thatpiping systems are designed and installed with the highest level ofsafety in mind, in compliance with relevant safety standards andregulations (e.g., OSHA, NFPA).
    • Conduct riskassessments to identify potential safety hazards during the design,fabrication, and installation phases.
    • Implementmeasures to minimize risks and ensure the safety of personnelinvolved in piping construction, maintenance, andoperation.

  6. Procurementand VendorManagement:

    • Assist inthe procurement process by reviewing and approving materials andcomponents for piping systems.
    • Evaluate andselect vendors, suppliers, and contractors based on their abilityto meet quality, cost, and schedulerequirements.
    • Monitor the delivery and qualityof materials, ensuring that all components meet projectspecifications before they are used inconstruction.

  7. Documentationand Reporting:

    • Maintaincomprehensive records of all piping design and installationactivities, including calculations, drawings, specifications, andreports.
    • Prepare progress reports formanagement and clients, outlining project milestones, potentialdelays, and other critical issues.
    • Review andapprove technical documentation related to piping systems, ensuringit meets project requirements and qualitystandards.

  8. Troubleshootingand ProblemResolution:

    • Address andresolve any technical issues related to the design, fabrication, orinstallation of piping systems.
    • Work closelywith the construction and operations teams to troubleshoot andsolve problems that may arise during installation orpost-installation phases.
    • Performroot cause analysis on piping failuresor deficiencies and implement corrective actions to preventrecurrence.

  9. Compliancewith Standards andRegulations:

    • Ensure allpiping systems comply with applicable local, national, andinternational codes and standards, such as ASMEB31.3 for Process Piping, ASMEB31.1 for Power Piping, and APIstandards for oil and gaspiping.
    • Stay up to date with changes inindustry regulations, codes, and standards to ensure that pipingdesigns and installations comply with the latestrequirements.

  • JOB PURPOSE:

Provide technical expertise on allengineering subject matters about Piping Engineering during EXECUTEstage and within the project team including Layouts, Design,Stress, Supports, and Piping Materials. Coordinate and interfacewith other disciplines, Operations, and EPC Contractors to resolvetechnical issues and ensure quality Piping engineering designexecution and integrity.

Provide technicalsupport where required relating to Piping activities for theproduction facilities and Piping design at the Plant to ensuretechnical and operational safety, integrity, constructability andreliability of the assets and to minimize downtime of thefacilities.

  • QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE& SKILLS:

MinimumQualification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Pipingor Mechanical engineering

Minimum Experience& Knowledge & Skills

  • 12 years of experience, including atleast 5 years' experience at senior level with multidiscipline exposure in Piping Systems/ Engineering in the oilrefining or gas industry related EPCorganisation..
