The Superintendent Construction (Fab)s upervises and coordinates workers engaged in lifting,transporting, storing, and loading materials and products by use ofconveyors, cranes, hoists, railroads, or trucks and appliesknowledge of yard and material handling equipment andprocedures.

Responsibilities

KeyTasks and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that all departmenthousekeeping duties are completed.
  • Forecastsand budgets the cost center within thedepartment.
  • Specifies locations for movement ofhoists and cranes using knowledge of various methods of liftingequipment, machinery, and heavy loads.
  • Studiesproduction schedules and estimates worker-hour requirements forcompletion of job assignments.
  • Establishes oradjusts work procedures to meet production schedules usingknowledge of capacities of machines andequipment.
  • Recommends measures to improveproduction methods, equipment performance, and product quality, andsuggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment toincrease efficiency.
  • Analyzes and resolves workproblems, or assists foremen and leader men in solving workproblems.
  • Approves personnel actions, such aspromotions, transfers, terminations and disciplinaryactions.
  • Confers with other supervisors inorder to coordinate activities of individualdepartments.
  • Required to be highly qualified inthe activities of all workerssupervised.
  • Required to have knowledge ofweight-to-size capacities of slings.
  • Controlsthe maintenance of all departmentalequipment.
  • Trains supervisors under him/her onhow to evaluate their employees.
  • Ensures thatcompany objectives, policies, programs and procedures areconsistently adhered to.
  • Adopts Quality,Health, Safety and Environmental programs ofcompany.
