Roles and responsibilities

1. Technical KnowledgeandExpertise

  • MechanicalSystems: Understanding the operation of mechanicalsystems and components, such as engines, transmissions, brakes,electrical systems, and hydraulicsystems.
  • DiagnosticSkills: Proficient in diagnosing mechanical issues,identifying problems, and finding effective solutions, using toolslike diagnostic equipment, sensors, or manualinspection.
  • Familiarity withSchematics: Ability to read and interpret technicalmanuals, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics for complexmachinery andvehicles.

2. Hands-OnRepair and MaintenanceSkills

  • RepairingEngines and Transmissions: Expertise in fixing andreplacing malfunctioning engine parts, transmissions, or othermajor mechanicalcomponents.
  • RoutineMaintenance: Performing regular maintenance taskslike oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluidchecks to keep vehicles or machines runningefficiently.
  • ElectricalSystems: Knowledge of automotive or machineelectrical systems, including battery testing, alternator repairs,and understanding wiring and circuitsystems.

3.Problem-Solving andTroubleshooting

  • Diagnosis:Quickly identifying and diagnosing mechanical, electrical, orstructural issues that may be affecting the performance ofequipment or vehicles.
  • AnalyzingSymptoms: Using symptoms, customer feedback, anddiagnostic tools to determine the cause of problems and formulatesolutions.

4. Knowledgeof Tools andEquipment

  • UsingMechanic Tools: Proficiency in using various toolssuch as wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, pliers, diagnosticmachines, power tools, and hydraulicequipment.
  • AdvancedMachinery: Understanding of more specializedequipment, such as lifts, welders, torque wrenches, and grinders,to perform specific repairs or maintenancetasks.
  • ToolMaintenance: Ensuring that tools and equipment areproperly maintained, calibrated, and stored for maximum safety andefficiency.

5.Attention toDetail

  • Precision:Making sure that every part and repair is completed accurately toavoid further mechanical failures or safetyhazards.
  • QualityControl: Checking the work thoroughly after repairs,including test-driving vehicles or running equipment, to ensureeverything is functioningproperly.

6. CustomerService andCommunication

  • ExplainingIssues Clearly: Effectively communicating withcustomers about the issues with their vehicle or machinery, as wellas the necessary repairs and estimatedcosts.
  • ProvidingEstimates: Giving clear, accurate estimates forlabor and parts, and obtaining customer approval before proceedingwith work.
  • Listening toCustomers: Listening to customer concerns andunderstanding their needs, especially when they describe symptomsor problems they'venoticed.

7. MechanicalMaintenanceScheduling

  • RoutineInspections: Performing periodic inspections androutine check-ups on machinery or vehicles to ensure that theycontinue to operateefficiently.
  • MaintainingRecords: Keeping accurate records of servicesperformed, parts replaced, and any maintenance schedules orwarranties.

8. WeldingandFabrication

  • WeldingSkills: Knowledge of welding techniques forrepairing or modifying metal parts on vehicles or machinery, usingtools like MIG welders or TIGwelders.
  • Fabrication:Ability to fabricate new parts or structures as needed to replacebroken or worn-out components, ensuring that all parts meet safetyand performance standards.

Description:1. Assess vehicles and/or machinery to accurately diagnose and repair issues.2. Meet withclients to understand their concern and identify the issues.3.Assemble mechanical components according to specifications.4.Propose work estimates / quotes for repairs as requested.5. Examinemachines and oversee diagnostic tests to determine functionalityproblems.6. Follow the schedule for all maintenance tasks andupgrades.7. Maintain work logs, repairs and maintenance records.8.Monitor inventory and order new parts when necessary.9. Maintainand clean garage equipment and tools to ensure they are kept in asafe and usable condition at all times.10. Adhere to compony worksafety polices.
