DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides domain knowledge inputduring the pre-purchase stage of all biomedicalequipment.
  • Performs inspection, inventoryprocedures and machine marking for incoming new equipment, prior touse.
  • Provides technical assistance, trainingand instruction to staff in the maintenance and operation ofequipment.
  • Carries out regular rounds andproper, systematic preventive maintenance of all biomedicalequipments and ensures that the problems are rectifiedimmediately.
  • Maintains a regularly updatedinventory of all biomedical equipment in thehospital.
  • Analyzes equipment for failure,faults or malfunctions based on application of test instruments andreference to technical literature andschematics.
  • Interprets engineering and vendorinformation, schematic diagrams and graphic illustrations utilizingclinical, physiologic and electronicprinciples.
  • Provides engineering and technicaladvice to ensure compliance with electrical and other safetystandards and prepare reports asrequired.
  • Coordinates and evaluates the workperformed by service contractors to include maintenance,calibration, installation and verification of servicedocumentation.
  • Prepares and enters data inlogs, reports, databases, forms and equipment records concerninginspections, repairs and equipment condition andoperation.
  • Conducts and assesses safety andrisk assessment together with the FMS teams and develops measuresto counter them.
  • Prepares requisitions forspare parts procurement fromstores/manufacturer.
  • Liaisons with otherdepartments and higher management.
  • Vendormanagement and development with particular reference to vendors whocan repair PCB's major assemblies that companies ask toreplace at high costs.
  • As a member of the FMScommittee, actively contributes to develop manuals, policies andprocedures relevant to the biomedicaldepartment.
  • Collects monitoring data for themedical equipment management program.
  • Developsand coordinates departmental qualityinitiatives.
  • Adheres to the safety norms of thehospital and follow both patient safety and staff safetyrules.
  • Updates biomedical knowledge byattending seminars and workshops regarding newequipments.
  • Performs other related duties asand when assigned by the Medical Administrator

QUALIFICATION,LICENSURE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SPECIALSKILLS:

  • B.E. (Biomedical) or Masters ofapplied Science in Bio-Medical Instrumentation or Equivalent Degree/ Fellowship.
  • Two years experience inmaintenance involving applications preferably in MedicalElectronics.
  • Good knowledge of English to readand understand technical literature andschematics.
  • Well versed with computer skillslike Word & Excel
