  • Deliver technical assignments, workelements, work packages, and project engineering design activitiesunder supervision.
  • Conduct numerical analysisand prepare technical reports.
  • Utilize softwareto undertake engineering design.
  • Participate insite visits and design team meetings as required.

Desired candidate profile

1. TechnicalSkills

  • StructuralAnalysis: Ability to use engineering principles toanalyze loads, stresses, and forces acting on structures such asbuildings, bridges, anddams.
  • DesignSkills: Knowledge of design principles for variousstructures using materials like steel, concrete, timber, andmasonry.
  • Building Codes andStandards: Familiarity with local, national, andinternational standards such as Eurocodes, AISC, ACI, or BS codesfor design, construction, andsafety.
  • SoftwareProficiency: Experience with engineering softwaretools like:
    • AutoCAD(for 2Ddrafting)
    • Revit(for building informationmodeling)
    • SAP2000, ETABS, orSTAAD Pro (for structuralanalysis)
    • SolidWorks(for detailed modeling, ifapplicable)
    • MATLABor Excel for calculations andmodeling.
  • FiniteElement Analysis (FEA): Understanding of FEA forsimulating physical behavior under stress, especially for complexor unusualstructures.
  • ConstructionMethods: Knowledge of construction techniques andmethods, such as concrete formwork, steel fabrication, and modularconstruction.

2.Problem-SolvingSkills

  • AnalyticalThinking: Ability to assess complex problems, thinkcritically, and provide innovative and cost-effectivesolutions.
  • Attention toDetail: Precision is essential in ensuring thatdesigns are accurate, safe, andpractical.
  • Troubleshooting:Ability to identify and resolve design or construction issuespromptly.

3. ProjectManagementSkills

  • TimeManagement: Ability to prioritize tasks, meetdeadlines, and manage workloads efficiently in a fast-pacedenvironment.
  • Collaboration:Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team, includingarchitects, contractors, and otherengineers.
  • CostEstimation: Understanding how to estimate projectcosts, materials, and labor requirementsaccurately.
  • RiskAssessment: Identifying and mitigating potentialrisks associated with structural design and constructionprojects.

4.CommunicationSkills

  • ReportWriting: Ability to prepare technical reports,design documentation, and progress reports that are clear andwell-organized.
  • PresentationSkills: Ability to communicate complex engineeringconcepts and solutions to both technical and non-technicalaudiences.
  • ClientInteraction: Interfacing with clients to understandtheir needs, providing progress updates, and explaining designconcepts.

5. KnowledgeofMaterials

  • MaterialScience: Understanding the properties of variousconstruction materials like concrete, steel, timber, etc., and howthey behave under different environmentalconditions.
  • Sustainability:Awareness of sustainable engineering practices, such as usingrecycled materials or designing energy-efficientstructures.
