  • Answerphones.
  • Inventory and restock supplies, andspecialty carts i.e. isolation, latex, crash carts, etc. perdepartment policy.
  • Order specialty beds andother patient equipment per medical centerpractice.
  • Disassembles, cleans ordecontaminates surgical instruments per manufacturersrecommendations including ultrasoniccleaning.
  • Assembles, inspects, tests, wraps anddates all OR sets including specialty sets per department protocolaccording manufacturersrecommendations.
  • Operate all equipment inSterile Processing Department including, but not limited to, steamsterilizers, plasma sterilizers, automated endoscope reprocessors,biological incubators, heat sealers, instrument and cartwashers.
  • Use of instrument and equipmenttracking system in all areas of Sterile Processing Departmentincluding documentation of tests and sterilizerrecords.
  • Examines and maintains integrity ofsterile packages.
  • Prepare OR case cartsaccording to preference cards on all surgicalprocedures.
  • Promotes, ensures, and improvescustomer service to internal and externalcustomers.
  • Able to work in a collaborativeenvironment.
  • Perform other related duties asassigned within the scope of training and service.

Experience

BasicQualifications:

  • Two (2) years recent experience as aSterile Processing Technician working in Sterile ProcessingDepartment in an acute hospital OR a Surgical Technician with two(2) years recent experience working in a Sterile ProcessingDepartment in an acute hospital.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GeneralEducation Development (GED).
  • Completion of anaccredited Sterile Processing Program including 400 clinical hoursor a Surgical Technician program.

License, Certification,Registration

  • CertificationBoard for Sterile Processing and Distribution - TechnicianCertification OR Registered Central Service Technician CertificateOR Surgical Technologist Certificate

AdditionalRequirements

  • Basic knowledge of instrumentprocessing techniques, including but not limited todecontamination, assembly, andsterilization.
  • Knowledge of Sterile ProcessingDepartment Policies and Procedures; be able to articulate on soapsand detergents, methods of packaging, types of sterilizationmethods and parameters, infection control practices, high-leveldisinfection practices, and safe practices in Sterile ProcessingDepartment.
  • Knowledge of medical, nursing, andsurgical supplies and equipment.
  • Ability todistinguish colors and hear audible alarmsrequired.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritizein a stressful environment.
  • Basic computerskills.
