Duties &Functions:

  • Engineering andMaintenance Management:
  • Develop and implementcomprehensive maintenance programs to ensure the proper functioningof all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systemsthroughout the hotel.
  • Conduct regularinspections of the property's infrastructure, equipment,and facilities to identify potential issues and implementcorrective actions proactively.
  • Coordinate withexternal contractors and vendors for major repairs, renovations,and equipment installations, ensuring compliance with safetyregulations and industry standards.
  • Oversee theoperation and maintenance of the hotel's energy managementsystems to optimize energy efficiency and reduce utilitycosts.
  • Respond promptly to emergencysituations, such as equipment failures or utility outages, andimplement contingency plans to minimize disruptions to guestservices.
  • Team Leadership andDevelopment:
  • Recruit, train, and supervise ateam of skilled technicians and maintenance employees, providingguidance, coaching, and performance feedback asneeded.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork,accountability, and continuous improvement within the engineeringdepartment, promoting a safe and productive workenvironment.
  • Conduct regular employee meetingsand training sessions to communicate departmental goals,priorities, and procedures effectively.
  • Ensurethat all engineering staff are trained and certified in relevantsafety protocols and regulatoryrequirements.
  • Budget and CostManagement:
  • Develop and manage the engineeringdepartment budget, including forecasting expenses, monitoringvariances, and controlling costs to meet financialobjectives.
  • Identify opportunities forcost-saving initiatives, such as energy conservation measures orequipment upgrades, and implement strategies to maximizeoperational efficiency.
  • Review and approvepurchase orders for maintenance supplies, spare parts, andequipment, ensuring that expenditures are within budgetaryconstraints.
  • Compliance andSafety:
  • Maintain compliance with all local,state, and federal regulations governing building codes, firesafety, environmental standards, and occupational health andsafety.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies andthird-party inspectors to ensure that the hotel meets all licensingand certification requirements.
  • Conduct regularsafety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards andimplement corrective actions to mitigate risks to guests, staff,and property.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree inEngineering, Facilities Management, or relatedfield.
  • Professional certification (e.g.,Certified Hotel Engineer, Certified Facilities Manager) is aplus.
  • Previous managerial experience inengineering or facilities management, preferably in a hotel orhospitality environment.
  • Strong technicalknowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical,plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Provenleadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivateand inspire a diverse workforce.
  • Excellentproblem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus ondelivering timely and cost-effectivesolutions.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours,including nights, weekends, and holidays, asneeded.
