Roles and responsibilities

  • ProcessDesign andDevelopment

    • Design anddevelop process systems for manufacturing and production lines,including the layout of equipment, piping, and controlsystems.
    • Create detailed flow diagrams (e.g.,PFDs and P&IDs), process simulations, and mass balancecalculations to define how processes will operate efficiently andsafely.
    • Design process control systems,specifying the instrumentation and control systems necessary formonitoring and automating theprocess.

  • ProcessOptimization

    • Continuouslyanalyze existing processes to identify areas for improvement andefficiency gains.
    • Implement changes to optimizeproduction time, reduce waste, improve energy consumption, andenhance overall productivity.
    • Use processsimulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS, Simulink) to modeland optimize process flows and predict the behavior of systemsunder variousconditions.

  • Safetyand Compliance

    • Ensurethat all designs adhere to industry safety standards, regulations,and environmental laws (e.g., OSHA, EPA,ISO).
    • Conduct hazard and risk assessments(e.g., HAZOP, FMEA) to identify potential safety issues andmitigate risks in the process design.
    • Developand integrate safety protocols, emergency shutdown systems, andfail-safes into process designs to protect workers andequipment.

  • Materialand Energy FlowManagement

    • Designprocesses that efficiently manage the flow of materials, energy,and waste products.
    • Specify equipment (e.g.,reactors, separators, heat exchangers) that best fits the needs ofthe process and ensures the efficient use ofresources.
    • Optimize the energy consumption ofprocesses, reducing costs and minimizing environmental impactthrough sustainablepractices.

  • Collaborationand Teamwork

    • Workclosely with other engineering disciplines, such as mechanical,electrical, and chemical engineers, to integrate process designswith other systems.
    • Collaborate with projectmanagers and clients to understand project goals and ensure processdesigns align with business needs and technicalrequirements.
    • Coordinate with procurement andconstruction teams to ensure that the selected equipment andmaterials are suitable for theprocess.

  • Documentationand Reporting

    • Produceand maintain comprehensive documentation for process designs,including specifications, flow charts, piping and instrumentationdiagrams (P&ID), and equipmentlists.
    • Prepare reports for internal andexternal stakeholders, detailing the process design, performanceanalysis, cost estimations, and regulatorycompliance.
    • Assist in the preparation oftechnical reports and presentations for clients, regulators, andmanagement.

  • Prototypingand Testing

    • Developpilot projects or prototypes to test new process designs ormodifications before full-scaleimplementation.
    • Conduct trials, collect data,and analyze results to evaluate the efficiency and feasibility ofnew processes.
    • Implement improvements oradjustments based on test results to optimize the finaldesign.
    • Estimate the cost of process systems,including equipment, materials, and labor, to create cost-effectivesolutions.
    • Manage budgets and resourcesefficiently, ensuring that the process design can be implementedwithin financial and resourceconstraints.
    • Monitor the procurement andinstallation of equipment to ensure that it meets the designspecifications and qualitystandards.

Qualifications

  • Diploma of Engineering(Preferable)

Essential

Knowledge/ Experience (Skills):

  • 7 -12 years of Oil & GasDesign Experience.

  • Previous experience inRegion

Technical KnowledgeAnd Skills (Discipline Specific)

  • Knowledge of basic engineeringprocesses
  • Familiarity with international codes,standards and engineering practices
  • Knowledgeof 2D and 3D CAD applications
  • Familiarity withPFDs and P&ID
  • Familiarity with HSELayouts, Fire Fighting Layouts
