Roles and responsibilities
  • Lead the detailed designand IFC developments of wayfinding projects, ensuring technicalaccuracy and design integrity.
  • Develop detailedproject drawings, technical specifications, BOQs, and locationplans, ensuring alignment with project goals and clientexpectations.
  • Create comprehensivepresentations to effectively communicate technical strategies anddesign proposals to clients and projectstakeholders.
  • Coordinate and work closely withwider teams of architects, interior designers, and otherstakeholders to propose integrated wayfinding design solutions thatmeet clients' requirements.
  • Providementorship and guidance to the team, fostering a culture oftechnical excellence, creativity, andcollaboration.
  • Demonstrate expertise in designsoftware, such as AutoCAD, Revit, Illustrator, to create detailedtechnical drawings and illustrations.
  • Manageproject schedules, resources, and workflow to ensure timelydelivery of high-quality technical designdeliverables.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends,emerging technologies, and best practices in wayfinding design, andincorporate relevant advancements into projectdeliverables.

  • Bachelor's ormaster's degree in architecture, urban design, graphicdesign, or related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years ofprofessional experience in wayfinding technical design, and signageon various project typologies including masterplans, luxuryhospitality, residential, mixed used, retail, commercial,entertainment, healthcare and education
  • Arobust design portfolio and proven track record of successfullyleading and delivering complex wayfinding projects from concept tocompletion.
  • Strong technical skills, with theability to utilize robust expertise in urban planning and interiordesign to develop and illustrate comprehensive wayfindingstrategies and presentations.
  • Excellentcommunication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with theability to effectively engage with clients, team members, andstakeholders.
  • Expertise in design software,such as AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and AITools.
  • Extensive understanding of localregulations, codes, and standards governing wayfinding andarchitecture projects in the MiddleEast.
  • Strong understanding of materials,fabrication techniques, detailed design drawings, andspecifications.
  • Ability to work independentlyand collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multipleprojects simultaneously while maintaining attention todetail.
  • Willingness to travel globally asrequired to support project needs and clientengagements.

1.Wayfinding DesignExpertise

  • WayfindingPrinciples: Knowledge of established wayfindingtheories and principles, such as cognitive psychology, visualperception, and environmental design, to design systems that areintuitive and easy tofollow.
  • SignageSystems: Expertise in designing physical signage andsymbols, including directional, informational, and regulatorysignage, ensuring clarity andconsistency.
  • EnvironmentalGraphics: Integrating wayfinding with environmentalgraphics, murals, or digital displays to enhance navigation andcontribute to the overall aesthetic of thespace.
  • User-CenteredDesign: Ensuring that designs are focused on theuser experience (UX), considering factors such as accessibility,legibility, and ease of understanding across different demographicgroups.

2. TechnicalDesign andDocumentation

  • CADSoftware: Proficiency in using Computer-Aided Design(CAD) software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, or Revit to createtechnical drawings, layouts, and plans for wayfindingsystems.
  • 3DVisualization: Ability to use 3D modeling tools(e.g., Rhino, 3ds Max, or Blender) to visualize how wayfindingelements will appear in the space, including dimensions, scale, andinteraction with theenvironment.
  • Blueprints andSpecifications: Creating detailed design documents,including blueprints, technical specifications, materials, andinstallation instructions for signage and wayfindingsystems.
  • Lighting andMaterials: Understanding how lighting and materialchoices affect visibility, legibility, and user experience,including selecting materials for durability and aesthetic appealin specific environments.

3.ProjectManagement

  • Leadershipand Team Management: Leading design teams, mentoringjunior designers, and collaborating with other disciplines (e.g.,architects, interior designers, engineers) to deliver cohesivewayfinding solutions.
  • Timelineand Budget Management: Managing multiple projectssimultaneously, adhering to deadlines, and keeping projects withinbudget while ensuring designquality.
  • VendorCoordination: Managing relationships with signagemanufacturers, installers, and other external vendors to ensurequality and timely delivery of wayfindingcomponents.

4.Collaboration withStakeholders

  • Cross-DisciplinaryCollaboration: Working with architects, interiordesigners, landscape architects, urban planners, and engineers tointegrate wayfinding systems into the broader design of thespace.
  • ClientCommunication: Engaging with clients to understandtheir needs, budget constraints, and branding requirements, andincorporating their feedback into the designprocess.
  • StakeholderPresentations: Presenting design proposals,concepts, and progress to clients, senior management, andstakeholders, explaining design decisions andrationale.

5. UserExperience andAccessibility

  • InclusiveDesign: Designing for inclusivity, ensuring thatwayfinding systems are accessible to individuals with disabilities,including those with visual, auditory, or cognitive impairments(e.g., using braille, tactile elements, and contrastingcolors).
  • Cognitive LoadReduction: Understanding how users processinformation and designing systems that minimize confusion andcognitive overload, making navigation as effortless aspossible.
  • International andMultilingual Design: Designing wayfinding systemsthat are effective across diverse populations, includingmultilingual signage and culturally sensitivesymbols.
  • WayfindingTesting: Conducting user testing and field surveysto evaluate the effectiveness of wayfinding systems and makingadjustments based on user feedback and behavioralanalysis.
