NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint an University Sports TeamsCoordinator reporting to the Director of Athletics.
The roleinvolves providing comprehensive support to the successfuloperation of University Sports Teams within the Department ofAthletics. This support encompasses general administrative tasksthat enable sports teams to actively engage and compete with otheruniversities or community groups within Abu Dhabi and the UAE. Keyresponsibilities include supporting the organization of fixturesand competitions maintaining communication with students andstakeholders reviewing team rosters overseeing team logistics andmonitoring budgets and finances. The post holder will serve as oneof the primary representatives at university sports events and willalso assist in upholding environmental health and safety policiesincluding risk assessments incident reporting and emergencyresponse procedures. Furthermore the post holder will play asupporting role in Team Coach recruitment continually offeringsupport to Team Coaches and their teams.
The postholder will ensure the promotion of activities through variousplatforms including social media internal and external websites andmay be required to collaborate with the NYUAD External Relationsteam. Additionally the post holder is expected to teach at leastone Physical and Health Education course per semester. Occasionallythe coordinator may be called upon to support the broader functionsof the Student Affairs division. Please note that this position mayrequire evening and weekend commitments during the academic year.Its essential to acknowledge that the duties of this role may attimes involve access to sensitive data necessitating the utmostconfidentiality.
JobResponsibilities:
  • AdministrativeDuties; General administrative support in the development andorganization of the University Sports Schedule including fixturestournaments and events
  • Oversees space bookingrequirements and requests organizes travel logistics and equipmentneeds and monitors and maintains records and materials accuratelyaccording to relevant policies andprocesses
  • Effectively contributes to thedepartments calendars and scheduling documentation alongside thedepartments booking and reservation system and other utilizedsoftware functionality
  • Also supports theorganization of Coach/ Instructor training and development.Provides general administrative support that ensures efficientoperations
  • Promotion and communication; Theposition will support the flow of information through thedepartment studentathletes coaches NYUAD stakeholders and externalpeers partners and stakeholders through general communications suchas emails and other materials such as infographics andpresentations
  • Data analysis and reporting;Using new and existing data sources conduct data analysis in orderto create comprehensive reports and presentations demonstrating theareas significant impact which can also be used to guide futurework generate opportunity for future collaborations and can beshared with stakeholders. The post holder will also support thecollection of studentathlete and coachfeedback
  • Coaching/ Instruction: Teach a minimumof one Physical and Health Education course per semester includingcurriculum development preparation of lesson plans monitoring ofstudent attendance and participation and recording attendance andgeneral communications
  • Finance; support day today University Sports Team budget tracking vendor management andpayment
  • Serve as an active contributor toUniversity and Student Affairs Divisionwide programs includingadmissions events new student orientation student leadershiptraining athletic instructor and coaching programs andmore
Qualifications: RequiredEducation:
  • BachelorsDegree in a sports related field (sports administration sportsmanagement recreation management sports studies etc.) orundergraduate degree with prior work experience in a similarrole
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED certificationsor the ability to secure certifications before start ofwork.
RequiredExperience:
  • 2 yearsExtensive knowledge of and/or experience in intercollegiateathletics
  • Experience in a highschool/collegiate athletic environment with a commitment to theintegration of athletics andacademics
  • Experience in coaching or equivalentexperience (ie. club coaching orinstructing)
  • Commitment toexcellence
  • Strong organization communicationand interpersonal skills
  • Possess a high levelof administrative and organizationalcompetence
  • Possess excellent decisionmakingskills
  • Ability to multitask and work underpressure in meeting multiple deadlines
  • Abilityto lead and work independently as well as within a teamenvironment
  • Ability to work a flexible schedulethat may include evening and weekendassignments
  • Ability to work effectively in amultiethnic and multicultural environment with students faculty andstaff
  • Knowledge and use of Google Drive andMicrosoft suiteapplications
PreferredEducation:
  • BachelorsDegree in a sports related field (sports administration sportsmanagement recreation management sportsstudies)
  • Coaching and/or teachingcertifications

Preferred Experience:
  • 3years experience working in a sports organization coordinatingprograms
  • A passion forsports
  • Ability to contribute to sports andrecreational programs that are inclusive innovative and increasewellbeing for students and thecommunity
  • Ability to engage with a diversestudent population Passion for technical sports skillsand match play
