JOB PURPOSE:

In the role of AVP/Audit Manageror as part of an audit team perform riskbased audits of theDepartments/Units within FAB Groups Operations & SupportFunctions ensuring that governance risk management and controls arein place to mitigate the inherent risks of the business. Developand position self as a subject matter expert. Train and develop theskills and knowledge of team member within the Audit teamscommunicating the Banks shared culture and values. Workingindependently with minimal supervision utilize available GIA toolsfor completion of audits and assurance of best practice settingpriorities ensuring quality and delivering to targets. Conductspecial investigations reviews additional tasks as and whenrequired byVP/SVP/GCAO.

KEYACCOUNTABILITIES:

StrategicContribution

  • Assistingin the audit of FAB Groups Operations & Support functionsand related activities in the UAE and across the internationalnetwork (functional). Furthermore Group Subsidiaries under FABGroups Operations & Support will becovered.
  • Ensure that Operational and SupportFunction audits are conducted in accordance with the objectiveslaid down in the Annual Plan and ensure that the work program iscompleted in an efficient and effective manner on or ahead ofschedule. Inform Head of Audit of any potential delays and/orchanges to the AnnualPlan.

People Management

In undertakingaudits:

  • Provide guidance and on thejob training for junior colleagues and conduct knowledge sharing tofacilitate achievement of team objectives and completion of tasksin an efficient manner which is consistent with operatingprocedures and policy.
  • Promote theorganizations values and ethics in all activities within the teamto support the establishment of a value driven culture within thebank.

Budgeting andFinancial Performance

  • Monitor the financialperformance of given areas of activities versus budgets and ensureall activities are carried out in line with the approved guidelineswhile promptly reporting on any variances tomanagement.

PoliciesSystems Processes &Procedures

  • Execute toestablished GIA Policies Guidance Notes Procedures and PracticeNotes in undertaking all tasks. Provide input to the development ofGIA practices as per industry standards and regulatoryexpectations.
  • Review all the activities of theUnits within Operations & Support activities in all thejurisdictions in which they operates to define and maintain theAudit Universe. Coordinate with other teams to ensure efficient andeffective coverage
  • Prepare and maintain a RiskAssessment of each of the Process Streams within Operations& Support and applicable subsidiaries (e.g. internationalentity) as identified in the Audit Universe. In this respect workwith the businesses to promote periodic selfassessment of risks andcontrols. Establish/update and maintain Audit programs in thecentral audit management tool
  • Establish/updateand maintain Audit programs in the central audit managementtool.
  • Conduct audits of the Processes withinOperations & Support and assessif:
    • Divisional/Unit Linemanagement have identified and classified the risks in theiractivities.
    • Governance risk management andcontrol procedures are adequate effective and efficient to reducerisks of errors omissions and loss to acceptable levels at anacceptable cost.
    • Improvements/enhancements tothe governance risk management and internal control structure arerequired.
    • Data and transaction processing meetsthe required standards of reliability integrity andavailability.
    • The Divisions/Units assets arebeingsafeguarded.                                                
    • Theuse of resources is efficient andeffective.
    • Draft audit worksheets/ audit reportsubmitted by auditors are properly reviewed andfinalized.
    • Audit Worksheets/Audit report isdiscussed and finalized with GIA management/client within 3 weeksof completion of fieldwork. Negotiate with Unit management to agreea documented Management Action Plan to resolve the issuesraised.

ContinuousImprovement

  • Lead theidentification of change through continuous improvement ofprocesses and practices considering global standards and changes inthe business environment which demand proactive actionplans.

RelationshipManagement

  • Develop andmaintain effective business relationships with all relevantexternal/internal entities and stakeholders with the higheststandards of business ethics whilst promptly attending to allcritical issues inorder to ensure the services required by theorganization are delivered in the most effectivemanner.           
  • Actas the Audit Business Partner for Line Managers within Operations& Support teams and actively manage the relationshipthrough regular meetings with Line Managers to promote this conceptand identify emerging risks. Such meetings should also be used todiscuss any material gaps between audit assessment or risks andcontrols and the businessesselfassessment.
  • Ongoing consultancy/advice isprovided to Unit management from a governance risk management andcontrol perspective for improvements in their processes to ensureeffective and efficient controls on the basis of market bestpractices.
  • On an ongoing basis ensure pendingaudit issues are followed up with Unit management and that allcorrective actions are fully and properlyimplemented. 
  • Conduct anyinvestigations/special reviews assigned by Head ofAudit/GCAO.   

Reporting

  • Ensurethat all functional reports are prepared timely and accurately andmeet Group requirements policies and qualitystandards.

Qualifications:

MinimumQualification

  • Bachelorsdegree.
  • Relevant postgraduate qualificationand/or relevant professional qualification and/ or certificationdesirable.

MinimumExperience

  • Minimum 8years relevant experience with an International Bank Big 4 orInternal Audit preferred (but not mandatory). Exceptions may bemade for high potential candidates.
  • Goodknowledge of Retail Commercial and Wholesale banking business andassociated risks
  • Good knowledge of bank andaudit policies and procedures as well as Central bankregulations
  • Strong leadership capability andteamoriented with highly developed problemsolvingskills.
  • Selfdirected able to manage multipletasks and ability to work underpressure.
  • Excellent analyticalskills.
  • Excellent verbal and writtencommunicationskills.
