ChiefEngineer

Chief Engineer is apivotal leadership role responsible for managing all engineeringand maintenance operations during the preopening and postopeningphases of the hotel. This role requires strategic planningtechnical expertise and effective team management to ensure thehotel operates efficiently safely and in compliance with allregulatory requirements. The Chief Engineer will play a criticalrole in maintaining optimal facility conditions supportingoperational excellence and enhancing guestsatisfaction.

KeyResponsibilities

PreOpeningand PostOpeningPhase:

  • Oversee andcoordinate all engineering and technical preparations during thepreopening phase including the installation commissioning andoperational readiness of hotel systems andequipment.
  • Establish and implement maintenanceand operational strategies to ensure seamless engineeringtransitions into the postopeningphase.
  • Postopening ensure sustained operationalefficiency of all engineering systems and infrastructure adaptingprocesses as needed to meet the evolving demands of theproperty.

Leadershipand TeamManagement:

  • Providestrong leadership and direction to the engineering team fostering aculture of excellence productivity andteamwork.
  • Drive performance standards ensuringteam members are aligned with organisational goals and consistentlydeliver exceptionalresults.

StrategicPlanning andExecution:

  • Develop andimplement comprehensive engineering strategies to support bothpreopening and ongoing operationalgoals.
  • Optimise processes to enhance theefficiency functionality and longevity of hotel facilities acrossall operationalstages.

Budget andResourceManagement:

  • Manage theengineering departments budget effectively ensuring optimalallocation of resources while controllingcosts.
  • Evaluate operational expenses andidentify opportunities for costsaving initiatives withoutcompromising quality orsafety.

Maintenance andOperationalOversight:

  • Preopening:Oversee the testing commissioning and handover of all mechanicalelectrical plumbing HVAC and structuralsystems.
  • Postopening: Implement robustpreventative maintenance programmes to minimise downtime and ensurethe smooth operation of all systems andinfrastructure.
  • Address and resolve operationalchallenges promptly to minimise any disruption to guest experienceor hoteloperations.

RegulatoryCompliance andSafety:

  • Ensure allengineering operations comply with applicable codes laws andregulations including safety and environmentalstandards.
  • Conduct regular inspections andaudits to maintain a safe compliant and riskfree environment forguests andstaff.

ProjectManagement:

  • Lead andoversee engineeringrelated projects including renovations capitalimprovements and system upgrades during both preopening andpostopening phases.
  • Coordinate with internalstakeholders and contractors to ensure projects are delivered ontime within scope and onbudget.

Vendor andContractorManagement:

  • Develop andmaintain effective relationships with external vendors suppliersand contractors.
  • Negotiate contracts andmonitor service delivery to ensure quality costefficiency andadherence toagreements.

TeamDevelopment andGrowth:

  • Recruit mentorand develop the engineering team promoting continuous learning andprofessional development.
  • Foster acollaborative environment that encourages innovation skillenhancement and teamengagement.

Qualifications:

  • WorkExperience: A minimum of 3 years of as Head ofEngineering department preferably on a remote (island) locationwith mandatory preopening experience. UAE experience isdesirable.
    • Education:Bachelors degree in Engineering Facilities Management or relevantcertifications are aplus.
    • RegulatoryCompliance: A deep understanding of UAEbuilding codes safety regulations and environmental standards.Experience in implementing and maintaining safety programs toensure a secure and compliant workingenvironment.
    • Technical:Extensive knowledge of mechanical electrical plumbing HVAC systemsand building management systems(BMS).
