Roles and responsibilities

Carries out obstetric and gynecologichealth care, both on an in-patient and out-patient basis, for thosepatients designated as being entitled to suchcare.

Responsibilities

  • Willperform professional duties as a consultantobstetrician/gynecologist to include
  • Providingsurgical care both in the operating room and in the O.P.D. forgynecologic and obstetric conditions for both emergency and plannedprocedures.
  • Covering the Delivery Room toinclude admitting patients, reviewing their history, planning acourse of action, performing both spontaneous and operativedeliveries, and interacting withmidwives.
  • Covering the Emergency Service bypromptly responding to calls forconsultation.
  • Doing and interpreting ultrasoundexaminations both in hospital and on an out-patientbasis.
  • Interpreting fetal heart rate monitoringand taking appropriate action.
  • Carrying outformal and informal consultations from physicians on otherServices.
  • Interacting with patients'families to keep them informed of the patient's condition,changes in condition and plans.
  • SupportsContinuous Quality Improvement. Develops and promotes appropriatestandards of care.
  • Works closely with otherHODs in developing policies and procedures to promote qualityhealth care.
  • Makes recommendations for patienttransfers to other medical facilities if and whenrequired.
  • Keeps the Division Head well informedof Department activities and receives guidance from the DivisionHead in the accomplishment of hisduties.
  • Exercises effective interpersonalskills in dealings with the staff, with associates and withManagement.
  • Maintains confidentiality regardingpatient information and regarding administrative matters of aconfidential nature.
  • Evidences dependability incarrying out the commitments and obligations of theposition.
  • Provides on-call emergency coveragefor obstetric emergencies.
  • Performs othermiscellaneous related duties asrequested.

Qualifications

  • Graduationfrom an approved Medical School. Completion of an approvedObstetric residency program consistent with established standardsof the hospital with specialty certification in the country oftraining.
  • At least three years of experience asa full-time Ob-Gyn practitioner.
  • Must have athorough knowledge of medical ethics, with particular reference tothe obligation to maintain the confidentiality of his work;personality which inspires confidence and trust in his patients;and adhere to Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of the MedicalOrganization.
  • Current licensure in country oforigin and with DHA license to practice inDubai.
  • Excellent command of oral and writtenEnglish. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but notessential.
  • Communication, interpersonal skillsas applied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients& families.
Desired candidate profile

1. Advanced DiagnosticSkills

  • UltrasoundImaging: Proficiency in using advanced ultrasoundtechnology to assess fetal development, detect abnormalities, andmonitor the health of the fetus. This includes performing detailedanatomy scans, growth scans, and 3D/4Dimaging.
  • FetalMonitoring: Knowledge of techniques to assess fetalwell-being, including non-invasive methods like Doppler flowstudies, biophysical profiles, and fetal heart ratemonitoring.
  • Genetic Screening andCounseling: Expertise in offering genetic screeningfor conditions such as Down syndrome, cystic fibrosis, and othergenetic disorders. This also involves counseling patients about therisks and results oftesting.
  • Amniocentesis andCVS: Experience in performing diagnostic procedureslike amniocentesis (sampling amniotic fluid) and chorionic villussampling (CVS) to diagnose fetal abnormalities or geneticconditions.

2.Management of High-RiskPregnancies

  • PretermBirth Prevention: Assessing risk factors for pretermlabor and implementing strategies for prevention, includingmedications, bed rest, and lifestylemodifications.
  • GestationalDiabetes and Hypertension: Monitoring and managingconditions like gestational diabetes and preeclampsia, which canaffect maternal and fetalhealth.
  • MultiplePregnancies: Expertise in managing twin, triplet, orhigher-order pregnancies, which may require specialized monitoringand delivery planning.
  • PlacentalDisorders: Recognizing and managing complicationssuch as placenta previa, placental abruption, and low placentalfunction.

3. ExpertKnowledge in FetalMedicine

  • FetalAbnormalities: Identifying congenital or structuralabnormalities in the fetus, such as heart defects, neural tubedefects, and craniofacial anomalies. This includes providingcounseling on treatment options andprognosis.
