Reportsto: Theprincipal

Role:The principals role is both academic and administrative; theprincipal ensures the general implementation of Schools academicpastoral and administrative processes. The principal oversees andevaluates staff performance and professionaldevelopment.

CurriculumDevelopment:

  • Supervisingcurriculum outlines in collaboration with the curriculumcoordinator

  • Curriculumsupervision needs to ensurethat:

  1. Curriculumis mapped to include (integration crosscurricularlinks)

  2. Effectiveupward spiraling of the curriculum (Scope andSequence)

  3. Modifiedto include provisions for SEND students/EmiratiStudents

  • Selectingcurriculum related resources as aligned with the statestandards

  • Liaisingwith KHDA for legislativerequirements.

SupervisingStaff professional development andperformance:

  • Consultswith the PD coordinator in drafting the annual professionaldevelopmentplan.

  • Reviewsthe PD plan to ensure effective provisions of trainingopportunities as required by theteachers.

  • Supervisesclass observationschedules

  • Monitorsthe implementation of the PDplan

  • Supervisesstaff performance management in collaboration with the PDcoordinator.

  • Evaluatingteachers performance and targetsetting

  • Consultswith head of school team leaders in staff continuation ofservices.

  • Updatesprincipal of staffperformance.

Pastoralcare:

  • Regulatingclass lists in consultation with the registrar heads of school toensure that classes are grouped dynamically with abilities andgenderbalanced.

  • Ensuresthat health and safety is maintained as per the health and safetypolicies.

  • Meetsregularly with supervisors and heads of school in reviewingsupervision duties to maximizesafety.

  • Ensuresthat foods and beverages served by school cafeteria are of highstandards as per the health and safety expectations fromDHA.

  • Draftingbehavior health and safetypolicies.

  • Supervisesmeetings with parents teachers and heads of school in regards tobehavior or academicchallenges.

  • Collaboratingwith services manager in school in planning and ensuring cleaningof the premises are of highstandards.


Extracurricularactivities:

  • Supervisingassembly plans ensuring that they are linked to relevant topicsculture appropriate and in alignment to school vision mission andcorevalues

  • Planningextra curricular activities that are aligned to thecorevalues

  • Supervisingplanning of trips ensuring that trips are an extended learningopportunity linked to the topics or concepts taught inclass.

  • Plansconcerts with heads of school teamleaders

Memberof the PTA (parent teacherassociation)

  • PTAmeetings

  • Ensuresthat confidentiality is maintained and reports meeting minutes tothePrincipal.

  • Collaborateswith the PRE (Parents relation Executive) in effectivecommunication between parents andteachers.

  • Followup parental concerns in regards to behavior andacademics.

Recruitment:

  • Shortlistingpotentialcandidates

  • Supervisesthe panel of interviewers in the recruitingprocess

  • Monitoringthe orientation and induction process for newly recruited staff incollaboration with team leaders and head ofschools.

Finances:

  • Assistingthe financial executive in drafting the annual budgetplan

  • Regulatingrequisitions made for purchases of classroomresources.

  • Approvingrequisitions made for extracurricular activities. (concerts ASAassemblies)

  • Assistingin Record Keeping: assists in completion of records and reports andin the supervision and inventory of necessary supplies textbooksequipment andmaterials.
