JobOverview

Structural Engineer willbe responsible for overseeing and managing all structuralengineering activities for the metro rail project during theD&B phase. This role involves validating the designprovided by the D&B contractor ensuring compliance withstructural standards. The Structural Engineer will work closelywith various departments to ensure the successful execution of theproject.

RolesandResponsibilities:

  • Validatethe structural design provided by the D&B contractorensuring compliance with project requirements and industrystandards.
  • Review and assess structural reportsdrawings and specifications submitted by the D&Bcontractor.
  • Review structural analysis andprovide recommendations for the design and construction of elevatedstations.
  • Identify and mitigate structuralrisks providing advice on potential opportunities andthreats.
  • Provide regular progress reports tothe client and internal stakeholders highlighting any structuralrisks and any mitigation measures to beproposed.
  • Ensure the provision of all necessarystructural data to the Contract Administration SeniorManager.
  • Provide technical support during theconstruction supervision phase addressing any structural issuesthat arise.
  • Work closely with the requireddepartments to ensure compliance with any legal financial andcorporate protocols.
  • Prepare and deliverstructural presentations as required.
  • Driveprogression via coordination meetings ensuring all structuralobligations are met.
  • Monitor and evaluate theperformance of structural works during construction ensuringadherence to design specifications and qualitystandards.
  • Liaise with external consultantscontractors and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance withstructural requirements.
  • Monitor constructionactivities including structural work materials usage andconstruction techniques ensuring the highest standards of qualityand workmanship are adhered to.
  • Providetraining and guidance to junior engineers and project team memberson structuralmatters.

Qualificationsand EducationalRequirements:

  • Bachelorsdegree in Structural Engineering Civil Engineering or a relatedfield. A Masters degree is preferred.
  • CharteredEngineer (CEng) or Professional Engineer (PE) statuspreferred.

Knowledgeand Experience:

  • 710years of experience in structuralengineering
  • Previous involvement in ProjectManagement Consultancy (PMC) and railway projects is required wouldbe a plus.
  • Indepth knowledge of structuralprinciples construction contracts and industrystandards.
  • Strong negotiation communication andinterpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple stakeholderseffectively.
  • Prior experience within atransportation or a rail project involving multiple contractorswould be favourable.
  • Experience in working onelevated railway/metro stationsstructures.
  • Extensive experience withstructural design and analysis tools (e.g. SAP2000 ETABS STAAD Pro)and understanding of steel fabricationprocesses.
  • Proven experience with steel facadedesign including understanding the integration of architecture andengineering in complex buildingfacades.
  • Experience with iconic or complexsteel structures and facades for largescale projects particularlyin the railway sector.
  • Experience with elevatedrailway station designs particularly in complex urban environmentsor hightrafficareas

PreferredSkills:

  • Strongtechnical expertise in the design and analysis of steel structuresand facades with the ability to solve complex engineeringchallenges.
  • Excellent project management andcoordination skills including experience overseeing the work ofcontractors consultants and otherstakeholders.
  • Strong communication andleadership abilities with experience in mentoring and leading ateam of engineers.
  • Indepth knowledge ofinternational design codes local standards and best practices insteel structure and facade design.
  • Ability tohandle multiple priorities meet deadlines and maintain qualitystandards in a fastpacedenvironment.
