JobOverview 

TheMechanical Engineer will be responsiblefor overseeing and managing all mechanicalengineering activities for therailwayprojects preconstruction and constructionstages. This role involvesvalidating thedesign provided by the constructioncontractorsensuring compliance with mechanical standards and providing supportduring the construction supervision phase. The Mechanical Engineerwill work closely with various departments to ensure the successfulexecution of the project particularly focusing on the integrationof mechanical systems within therailwayinfrastructure. 

RolesandResponsibilities: 

  • Validatethe mechanical design provided by theconstructioncontractor (design and buildcontractor)ensuring compliance with projectrequirements and industrystandards. 

    • Overseethe installationtesting andcommissioning of mechanical systems including HVAC fire protectionplumbing and other mechanical systemsensuring they meet quality standards andprojectspecifications. 

      • QualityControl ensurethat all mechanical systems complywith relevant standards and qualitybenchmarks throughout the installation and commissioningphases. 

        • Conductsite assessments and surveys to gather data on existing mechanicalconditionsidentifyopportunities for improvementandprovide technicalguidance to clients and other projectsubconsultants. 

          • Directthe development and review and approval of machinal systemsspecifically technical drawings audit and evaluation of shopdrawings and of materialsubmittals. 

            • Identifyand mitigate mechanical risks providing advice on potentialopportunities andthreats. 

              • Provideregular progress reports to the client and internal stakeholdershighlighting any mechanical risks andopportunities. 

                • Ensurethe provision of all necessary mechanical data to the ContractAdministration SeniorManager. 

                  • Providetechnical support during the construction supervision phaseaddressing any mechanical issues thatarise. 

                    • Workclosely with the required departments to ensure compliance with anylegal financial and corporateprotocols. 

                      • Prepareand deliver mechanical presentations asrequired. 

                        • Preparedetailed engineering reports technical documentation and manualsfor both internal use and clientneeds. 

                          • Driveprogression via coordination meetings ensuring all mechanicalobligations aremet. 

                            • Reviewand approve mechanical reports drawings and specificationssubmitted by thecontractor. 

                              • Monitorand evaluate the performance of mechanical works duringconstruction ensuring adherence to design specifications andqualitystandards. 

                                • Liaisewith external consultants contractors and regulatory authorities toensure compliance with mechanicalrequirements. 

                                  • Conductsite visits and inspections to assess mechanical conditions andverify the implementation ofrecommendations. 

                                    • Providetraining and guidance to junior engineers and project team memberson mechanicalmatters. 

Qualificationsand EducationalRequirements: 

  • Bachelorsdegree in Mechanical Engineering or arelated field. AMasters degree ispreferred. 

    • Professionalcertifications such as Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent arehighlydesirable. 

KnowledgeandExperience: 

  • Minimumof 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering preferably inlargescale infrastructure or transportationprojects. 

    • 25years of experience as a Design Engineer specifically in the designinstallation and commissioning of mechanical systems such as HVACplumbing and fire protectionsystem 

      • Projectmanagement experience particularly with mechanical systems andconstructionrelatedprojects. 

        • Knowledgeof Building Management Systems (BMS) and their integration withsystems. 

          • Indepthknowledge of mechanical principles construction contracts andindustrystandards. 

            • Stronganalytical communication and interpersonal skills. Ability tomanage multiple mechanical aspects and stakeholderseffectively. 

              • Knowledgeof AutoCAD/BIM will beessential. 

                • Experienceworking on Rail projects/sector is highlydesirable. 

PreferredSkills: 

  • Stronganalytical and problemsolving skills with the ability toidentify andmitigate mechanical risks specific to largescale infrastructureprojects. 

    • Highlevel of attention to detail ensuringaccuracy in mechanical assessments andvalidations. 

      • Provenleadership skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team in ahighpressureenvironment. 

        • Experiencein managing complex projects with the ability to meet tightdeadlines and handle multiple taskssimultaneously. 

          • Excellentcommunication skills with the ability to present complex mechanicalinformation clearly and concisely to stakeholders at alllevels. 

            • Proficiencyin mechanical engineering software and tools as well as a strongunderstanding of engineering and constructionprocesses.
