JOBSUMMARY

Functions as the primary strategic businessleader of the property with responsibility for all aspects of theoperation including guest and employee satisfaction human resourcesfinancial performance sales and revenue generation and delivering areturn on investment to both Marriott International and propertyownership. Verifies implementation of service strategy andinitiatives with the objective of meeting or exceeding guestexpectations increased profit and market share. Holds propertyleadership team accountable for strategy execution and guides theirindividual professional development. The position verifies thatsales engines are leveraged and initiates independent and proactivesales activities when appropriate to generate demand. Verifies thatthe objectives and goals of Marriott and property owners worktogether to achieve brand positioning and success. Builds ownerloyalty through proactive communication setting and managingexpectations and delivering solid business results. The position isactively involved in the local community and builds strongrelationships with local officials businesses andcustomers.

CANDIDATEPROFILE

Education andExperience

  • 2year degree froman accredited university in Business Administration Hotel andRestaurant Management or related major; 8 years experience in themanagement operations sales and marketing finance and accounting orrelated professionalarea.

OR

  • 4yearbachelors degree in Business Administration Hotel and RestaurantManagement or related major; 6 years experience in the managementoperations sales and marketing finance and accounting or relatedprofessional area.

Preferred:

  • GeneralManager experience in limited or fullserviceproperty.
  • Ability andwillingness to work flexible hours including weekends holidays andlate nights.
  • Propertyindustry work experience demonstrating progressive career growthand a pattern of exceptionalperformance.

Business StrategyDevelopment

Stays current with industrytrends and monitors strengths and weakness of competition; exploresnew business opportunities; develops business plans designed tomaximize property customer satisfaction profitability and marketshare; ensures property business plans are aligned with the hotelsbusiness strategies; translates Marriott global strategic plan intoone that can be executed on property.

Business StrategyExecution

Executes business plansdesigned to maximize property customer satisfaction profitabilityand market share; ensures that property business plans andemployees are aligned with business strategies; holds propertyleadership team accountable for successful delivery of businessplans; experiments with new ideas and takes calculated risks toimprove guest satisfaction and profitability; evaluates the successof property business strategies to inform future business planenhancements; continually ensures business plans and actions have apositive impact on propertyperformance.

Sales andMarketing

Works closely with Sales andMarketing team to develop revenue generating strategies forproperty; identifies new business leads develops tailored salesapproach and actively pursues leads with Sales and Marketing team;validates that sales and marketing strategy is aligned with brandstrategy and is effectively executed against established goals;verifies that property leaders understand and leverage Marriottdemand engines to full potential; augments guest preference forproperty through booking ease and quality interactions with salesforce.

Talent Management and OrganizationalCapability

Creates a cohesive andhighperformance Executive Committee that continuously strives forpositive results and improvement; coaches Executive Committee byproviding specific feedback and holds them accountable forperformance; creates learning and development opportunities foremployees; creates and effectively executes development plans forboth direct reports based on their individual strengths developmentneeds and career aspirations; ensures all managers are doing thesame for their direct reports; identifies resource needs tostrengthen property team; creates succession plans for future jobopenings; actively supports the staffing process; ensures effectivework processes systems and teamwork are in place to maximizeindividual and overall propertyperformance.

Employee and LaborRelations

Verifies that all employeesare treated fairly and with respect; builds rapport with employeesby fostering an environment of open communication and spending timewith employees on the frontlines; makes selfavailable to employees(open door policy); verifies that pay and benefits are appropriatefor labor market; celebrates the success of employees in a publicway; works with Human Resources to maximize employee engagement andmonitor local labor environment to address issues asneeded.

RevenueManagement

Works with RevenueManagement team to develop effective pricing strategies balancingseasonality economy customer segments property objectives andcustomer satisfaction; established revenue strategy that supportsthe hotels positioning in local market; ensures demand forecastingand sound revenue practices are in place to maximize yield;identifies ways to grow occupancy RevPAR and market share byresearching and staying aware of competitor strategies; controlslabor and capital expenses.

OwnerRelations

Builds strong rapport withproperty owners through proactive and ongoing communication; keepsowner informed of brand initiatives and guest experiences; providesowners with indepth analysis of property performance incorporatingguest financial and employee business data; manages an effectivebalance between owner interests and Marriott brand interests anddevelops solutions that create value for both; develops andeffectively promotes ideas for improving property service andprofitability to ownership.

Customer and Public RelationsManagement

Interacts with guests andother customers on a frequent basis to obtain feedback about theirexperiences on property; utilizes guest/customer feedback torecognize outstanding employee service performance and improveservice delivery; emphasizes and holds leadership team accountablefor addressing service failures or potential service failures andfor developing innovative ways to exceed guest expectations;establishes presence in the market by actively promoting anexemplary property/brand image involving oneself in the localcommunity and by developing strategic alliances with localofficials businesses and customers; anticipates needs of largegroups or high profile guests in order to deliver flawless service;verifies that products services and events attain the appropriatepublicity (PR buzz).
