Paragon GE is looking for a Group Junior Accountant for an Oil and Gas Services company in the UAE.

This is a staff position in Dubai for an accountant with a minimum of 3 years post
- qualified experience.

The Group Junior Accountant will be reporting to the Finance Manager. The position will continuously ensure that the financial records of the organization are accurate and complete on timely basis.

The position will assist the Finance Manager in timely generating the periodic and Ad hoc financial reports and in managing overall accounting and finance operations of the organization.

The position is responsible for following the standards implemented in the department and contributing to an environment focused on continuous improvement and total quality.


  • Recording journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded in accounting system.
  • Reviewing the sales and purchase invoices recorded by the project managers ("PMs") on weekly and monthly basis and coordinating to resolve the review points (this also includes to perform the VAT compliance checks)
  • Preparing the periodic reconciliation of the account balances with clients and vendors
  • Reconciling bank accounts and petty cash and credit card statements on weekly basis
  • Weekly review of the project cashflow forecasts prepared by the PMs to check if they are aligned with the payables and receivables as per the accounting system
  • Preparing weekly cashflow rolling forecast
  • Preparing the weekly payment run and coordinating to get to approved
  • Uploading the weekly approved payment run in the bank and coordinating to get it reviewed and authorized at the online banking
  • Preparing the labour allocation sheet to ensure that the staff costs are properly recorded to the applicable projects.
  • Receding the labour allocation and payslips in the accounting system and reconciling both and ensuring that they are compliant with the employment contracts and applicable labour laws.
  • Recording monthly recurring entries and maintaining the schedules of the balance sheets items only monthly basis.
  • Preparing intercompany invoicing and monthly reconciling the intercompany balances between the entities
  • Managing the GL accounts of UESR (unrealized sales revenue) and WIP (work in progress) and preparing their monthly analysis.
  • Performing the month end closing tasks to ensure monthly accounting transactions are completely and accurately recorded in 5 working days following the month end.
  • Preparing standalone financials and consolidated financials of the entities (compliant with the IFRS and local tax regulations) and preparing the related analysis
  • Preparing the financial budgets and various forecasts and preparing their periodic reviews
  • Liaise with external auditors, banks and the tax authorities
  • Preparing and filling of periodic tax return
  • Contribute in continuous improvement in the accounting policies and procedures and finance functions to improve the productivity and cater the business needs

Job Requirements
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Minimum three years' accounting experience as an accountant
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, commerce, business administration or other financebased discipline.
  • Certified Professional Accountant (CPA), ACCA or similar designation preferred.
  • Experienced in Xero is must
  • Knowledge of UAE VAT and corporate tax rules and regulations
  • Oil and gas industry experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Projectbased organization experience preferred.
  • Perfect written and spoken English.
  • High level of communication skills.
  • Highly discrete and able to uphold the utmost confidentiality.
  • Selfconfident and very proactive.
  • Prepared to be handson to achieve results and maintain deadlines.
  • Must be highly selfmotivated and demonstrate exceptional organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication with the ability to interpret needs and express ideas clearly.
