Mission/ Core purpose of the JobThe Senior Manager
  • Product Messaging Portfolio will develop the messaging communication platforms roadmap, the associated product catalogue and the product life cycle from introduction, growth, maturity to retain/retire.
The role includes the responsibility to develop new communication platform products, including managing product definition and delivery cycle, pricing, technical and commercial specification aligned to market trends and commercial requirements from sales and commercial teams.

The role will ensure product implementation, manifestation and launch of Messaging Communication Platform Products like WhatsApp Solution Provider, Rich Business Messaging, SMS-A2P, SMS-P2A, SMS-P2P, Bulk SMS, SMS-API, Mobile Identity and silent authentication, API offering..

etc. and along with Sales own service wide revenue targets.

The role will coordinate with commercial, sales, marketing, and other support functions by identifying, developing, and tracking market trends, opportunities, customer experience, brand awareness and deliver a unified approach for communication platform messaging products.

The Senior Manager - Product Manager:

Mobility VAS will be accountable to achieve the following objectives:Strategy and Development Identify profitable opportunities that meet market needs.

Launch products into the market, Own product-line revenue by ensuring timely readiness and sales enablement.
Oversee products already in the market, Drive product documentation including business case, market specs and sales collaterals.
Wind down products that no longer meet market needs, Product rationalization, retire products which do not meet market requirements.

Perform competition analysis, benchmarking portfolio with that of other leading Carrier/Wholesale Business UnitsIdentify new areas for growing service revenues, contribute to enhance existing Messaging and Identity offerings, by assessing gaps in market needs, and exploring potential product manifestations for further monetizing opportunities.

Continually review cost components and product pricing through scientific framework to maximize RoI.Align stakeholders for an interlocked product delivery plan.

Collaborate closely with global and regional stakeholders across MTN Group – digital, market managers, sales, technology, finance, etc. – to identify and interpret signals in the marketplace that Bayobab need to recognize and leverage as competitive advantage.

Consider both short and long term needs to enable the company to achieve its strategic wholesale mission, with specific focus on communication platforms.

Oversee roll-out of new communication platform messaging and identity products & services, including Lead to Provision, Trouble to Resolve and Bill to Cash.

Keep abreast of Messaging and Identity international best practice, technologies and industry trends and market requirements.
Educate stakeholders and internal customers on the role of Bayobab new products and services under the messaging portfolio.
Sales & MarketingCreate and align on Go-To
  • Market plans for new products and services under messaging portfolio.
Support sales plans/forecast and provide input to the review and approval of new product plans.
Contribute towards short and long-term sustainable forecasts and predictions years), analysing trends and highlighting areas of the business that may be developed furtherSupport the development of the Messaging, API and Identity products marketing plans and ensure delivery thereto.
Identify trends / patterns pertaining to customer needs and filter this information through to product development and management cycles.

Supervisory / Leadership / Managerial Complexity:

Effectively manage the resources of the division according to MTN Group HR governance structuresSupport the definition of the divisional KPAs and KPIs that will be cascaded down to each area.

Assist in performance management & identification of training needs within each areaBuild professionalism, loyalty, and commitment to the organization.

Communicate clearly, actively, and effectively of management directions, expectations and strategy as well as resolving any potential conflicts that may arise.

Coordinate and ensure effective participation in the required regulatory process to ensure required permissions are obtained for implementation of projects and platforms.

Review performance reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives.

Support the Bayobab communication platforms budget creation, revise objectives and plans in accordance with the approved budget and review budget if necessary.

Education:

Minimum 4-year Academic Degree in Business Administration, Engineering or Computer SciencePostgraduate qualification MBA/Masters in Economics, Business Management or Data Science is preferredFluent in English, with French and/or Arabic preferableExperience:Minimum 7 years functional experience in Telecommunications, Technology, or related B2B industry experienceMinimum 5 years in Product Management, Customer facing and/or Messaging roles with relevant commercial experience in the international telecommunication industry preferably in carrier and enterprise product business.

Good understanding of the telecommunication industry – especially wholesale carrier services is a must.
Excellent knowledge of messaging technology and telecom communication protocols.

Ability to create a GTM strategy for Messaging, APIs and Identity products basis 'What' & 'When' aspects focusing on sales and profitability growth.

Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders in a multi-cultural environment.

Techno-commercial knowledge of rich messaging and identity market and the impact that changes in the environment will have on the business over the next 3 to 5 years.

Direct experience and demonstrated ability to develop own executive level presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
Strong analytical skills to adequately anticipate demand and make investment decisions.
Maturity to handle ambiguity and adaptive to dynamic environment.
Strong analytical skills to execute Bayobab strategy and high-level reports.
A working knowledge of business practices.
Knowledge of personnel policies.
Knowledge of risk management (a risk taker who carefully considers risk/reward) and business development.
Effective leadership and the ability to coach, mentor and motivate a staff of business and technical professionals.
