UK Trusts are currently recruiting a Radiographer to work for the largest
Primary Care Providers in the UK.


The Primary Care Provider provides a range of NHS outpatient services within a community setting, to improve patient outcomes and provide care closer to home, supported by a range of diagnostic services.

Those diagnostics include a dedicated X-ray facility which directly supports NHS Orthopaedic,

Rheumatology and Respiratory outpatient services, as well as TB screening for a range of immigration medical services and delivering community direct access plain x rays.

The Radiographer will operate this X-ray facility, working with the Head of
Imaging and Clinical Lead for X-ray services to deliver a response, safe and high quality for patients. Reporting directly to the Head of Imaging.

£27,000 to £30,000 per annum (Full Time)

Minimum Requirements

  • BSc in radiology and imaging technology or equivalent
  • IELTs score of 7.0 with no element below 6.5 or Naric UK
  • HCPC Registration completed
  • Ideally 1 years' experience

Role Summary

  • To support the Head of Imaging in the provision of a professional Xray service.
  • To perform, and audit on, a range of Xray examinations.
  • To keep accurate records using a combination of CRIS, SystmOne and PACS.
  • To undertake regular service audit.
  • Communicate potentially distressing diagnoses directly to patients and refer accordingly.
  • Maintain a high standard of patient care and medical ethics.
  • Participate in CPD and other developmental activities and actively take part in departmental research/audit.
  • To help maintain the high standards of the Xray service and to encourage a team working approach with all members of staff including HCAs and reception staff.
  • To be able to work alone for long periods of time.
  • To be able to act autonomously within protocols and judge appropriately when to request the assistance of senior support.
  • Initial clinical assessment of images expediting the formal reporting process/ highlighting concerns with referrers as appropriate.

Clinical Duties & Responsibilities

  • To provide a highly specialised clinical service using Xray equipment to image and support accurate diagnosis.
  • To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of work including clinical practice, and for the work and clinical practice of linemanaged staff.
  • To comply with IR(ME)R employer procedures, IR local rules and Health Board policies and procedures.
  • To ensure a high standard of clinical care within own professional practice, and support other staff within the service to do likewise.
  • To assess, capacity, gain valid informed consent and have the ability to work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment and support other staff to do likewise.
  • To formulate individualised investigations, when necessary, based on a sound knowledge of evidencebased practice, using advanced clinical reasoning skills, and utilising a wide range of highly specialised skills to enable the production of effective good quality diagnostic imaging.
  • To implement new techniques based on evidence.
  • To maintain accurate, comprehensive, and uptodate documentation in line with legal and service requirements and communicate diagnostic results to the appropriate disciplines in the form of reports and letters and ensure the other staff within the section do so.
  • To assist and ensure that staff adhere to safe and effective moving and handling of patients. To arrange correct patient preparation and positioning prior to examination.
  • To autonomously record logs of imagine taken, dosing and any study limitations.
  • To ensure that any sinister findings are reported immediately to the Head of Imaging/Clinical Lead for Xrays and captured on the clinical system, so that the patient can be managed promptly.
  • To be aware of current literature regarding the potential biological hazards of diagnostic Xray and the need to minimise doses at all times.
  • To be aware of conditions where current recommendations contra
- indicate X-ray imaging.

  • To ensure that any hard copy image taken is an accurate record of displayed information relevant to the patient being examined on the date when the examination took place.
  • To ensure a high standard of written and verbal communication with patients and referring clinicians.
  • To ensure all relevant safety checks are made before proceeding with any examination.
  • To take part in the vetting of Xray requests, establishing whether the clinical details provided are sufficient to perform the examination requested and whether the correct examination has been requested.
  • Assess and justify radiological requests received in accordance with departmental procedures and scope of practice.
  • To recognise the urgency of requests and prioritise according to clinical need.
