POSITION:
STAFF NURSE
  • AL BARSHA CLINIC
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks ensuring effective functioning of the area.
  • Follows the chain of command in reporting incidents or concerns.
  • Prioritizes workload and completes correspondence in a timely manner.
  • Ensures safe working environment through strict compliance with Hospital Policy and Procedure regarding safety, infection, and security.
  • Demonstrates skills in assessment of patient and family's physical and psychological needs.
  • Demonstrates skill in coordination and planning of care and prioritizes care based on individual needs.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to render care and services based on age, appropriateness, and developmental needs of patients.
  • Performs nursing interventions / procedures in accordance with established standards of care and policy and procedures.
  • Identifies and responds to emergency situations appropriately and directs team members in a calm, proficient manner.
  • Provides Nursing Care to patients before and after procedures.
  • Books patients for appointments, procedures, or treatments according to the treatment plan.
  • Follows up on patients' diagnostic tests and coordinates with physicians to inform patients about their results, treatment, or the need for a follow-up with a physician.
  • Maintains accurate and thorough documentation as per Hospital Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintains competency in the use of department-specific equipment necessary for patient resuscitation.
  • Maintains knowledge and awareness regarding department / service-specific policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Demonstrates delivery of safe and appropriate nursing care according to standards of care.
  • Maintains a safe environment for patients, co-workers, visitors, and others by following hospital policy in reporting equipment failures, safety, and security issues.
  • Demonstrates effective communication and good customer service skills when interacting with the interdisciplinary team, patients, families, and others.
  • Supports the effective functioning of unit routine, e.g., preparation of charts (screening), use of electronic record systems, updates of patient records, and preparation in view of day schedule.
  • Self-updates regarding internal memos and communication towards changes in the clinic.
  • Ensures consultation rooms are stocked and clean before and after patients have been seen.
  • Admits and discharges patients according to established standards.
  • Organizes and prepares patients with outpatient appointments for MRI/CT under Sedation/Analgesia.
  • Administers medication, chemotherapy, infusion, blood products (where applicable) as per Hospital Policies and Procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
3-4 year General Nursing Diploma / DegreePROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 3-4 years of nursing care, with at least two years' experience in specialty (Prior experience in a Private Healthcare institute is an asset).
BCLS certification.
Postgraduate diploma, where applicable.RESPONSIBILITIES General:
  • Provides age-specific patient-centered care utilizing the nursing process.
  • Performs patient assessment using appropriate, problem-focused, and age-specific assessment techniques.
  • Performs continual critical care assessment of patients and family's physical and psychological needs.
  • Involves the patient, significant others, and healthcare providers in the plan of care when appropriate.
  • Collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team to provide patient care.
  • Coordinates and plans critical care/clinical pathways, and prioritizes care based on individual needs. Revises the care plan as necessary.
  • Initiates an appropriate transfer plan.
  • Recognizes subtle cues to anticipate potential problems.
  • Documents all relevant data in the medical record according to hospital/departmental standards.
  • Ensures availability and maintenance of supplies and equipment needed for the unit and patient care.
  • Performs clerical duties when needed.
  • Assumes responsibility for meeting Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) required mandatory education (e.g., fire, safety, infection control, and others).
  • Participates in staff meetings and unit committees/projects.
  • Participates in developing and achieving unit goals.
  • Maintains a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Performs safe handling and administrating of Narcotic/Controlled and Semi-Controlled Drugs and documentation as directed by policies and procedures.
  • Ensures completion of unit competencies, e.g., pain management, and utilization of Emergency department devices.
  • Maintains clinical and professional competency based on the latest research and established standards of practice.
  • Completes yearly the critical care nursing competencies (basic).
  • Participates in unit-based Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities (data collection, CQI teams, incident reporting, customer complaint reporting, medication error reporting, etc.).
  • Participates in ongoing educational activities.
  • Maintains mandatory educational requirements.
  • Performs additional duties when required.
