Senior Manager, Special Assets (Remote Working)Support the Head
  • Special Assets in aggressively managing and recovering the bank's identified problem assets of wholesale segment of the bank and to identify, on a pro active basis, credits that are most vulnerable to the economic and industry cycles.
This role also provides crucial support, via credit analysis, portfolio management, regulatory compliance and MIS reporting duties, for the efficient and effective management of the Special Assets portfolio.

Key Result Areas:

Remedial Management responsibility:

Responsible for Recoveries / Restructuring / Settlement Plan/ Develop strategies including secondary sales, strengthening collateral etc for NPL and distressed / restructured accounts which are relationship managedAccurate financial analysis and credit proposal preparation on large exposure restructuring corporate cases.

Ensuring that CPs are properly presented and include all relevant information, and credit controls in line with the bank's credit policy and local regulatory directives.

Review, check and assign where applicable the appropriate risk rating to each large exposure credit processed and initiate the change in the rating as the case may be to reflect the true and fair condition of the customerTimely identification, recognition and mitigation of credit and operational risks.


Legal action:


Initiate Criminal and Civil Action for recoveryFollowing through with the processAssist the line manager and Chief Credit Officer to monitor the Special Assets portfolio through the use of control and tracking MIS reports.

Ensure that Special Assets Managers populate the latest data; individual account risks are correctly and timely assessed, and that appropriate account strategies are formulated and executed diligentlyAssist the line manager in recognizing loan impairments promptly; quantify substantiate them in a rigorous manner.

Regular update meetings with CEO / CCO/ HCIBG / Head Corp Affairs as required.
MIS & ReportingDevelop and maintain MIS for SA Unit key indicators.

Ensure accurate and timely data and MIS are maintained for the managed portfolioDevelop a commanding knowledge and understanding of all SA policies and procedures; ensure they are rigorously followed by the team.

Ensuring that controls are effectively maintained in line with the bank's Operational Risk Framework, CB UAE circulars, etc.
Interactions with auditors, regulators and other critical external stakeholders, contributing to a constructive working relationship with them.

Coordinate and collect various reports / information / data as per CPM.Collating and sharing experiences and lessons learned with internal constituencies in order to expand their risk knowledge base.


UAE CB reporting and liaison:


Coordination of and liaison with UAECB for annual Audit (including very high data / documentation requirements) and quarterly desktop reviewQuarterly reporting of NPLs and RestructuringOther monthly/quarterly reports for UAECBKnowledge, Skills and Experience:The candidate must have at least 8-10 years of mainstream banking work experience, such as origination / control of lending function whether on the relationship or approval side, and / or special assets.

The candidate must hold a relevant graduate degree, preferably with a professional degree such as MBA / CA/ CFA/ CWA..Positive Attitude is a must.

Strong analytical skills.

Knowledge, understanding and experience of having handled remedial / distressed cases in the past; and relevant industry experience in Credit Risk Management.

Flawless writing and presentation skills, top notch analytical skills.
Demonstrable ability to manage stakeholders at all levels, within and outside the organization, including regulators.

Sharp business acumen (including ability to assess risk and appropriate levels of return).Excellent interpersonal skills and multi-cultural awareness and sensitivity.

Understanding of best practice risk management techniques and frameworks.
Exemplary integrity, ethics, independence and resilience.
