JOB SUMMARY


Responsible to construct, install, maintain, and repair glazing & wood structures such as doors, windows, walls, partitions, paneling and furniture within the Hotel.

Assemble, repair, and replace bed frames, closet doors, cabinets, dressers, etc; and other similar cosmetic interior/exterior finishes for the facility.

Perform rough-in framing for doors, frames, windows, and cabinetry.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of related work experience in a 5star Hotel or equivalent.
Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to carry out repairs, maintenance and preventive maintenance checks on all glass & wood based fixtures and furniture.
  • Knowledge of blue print reading, specifications, standards etc of the trade
  • Basic knowledge of all other Engineering functions such as painting, masonry, polishing etc
  • Demonstrated ability to use specialized power and hand Tools for the Trade
  • Knowledge of Lock/Tag Out Protocol, OSHA and other safety procedures
  • Understanding of maintenance inventory and requisition of carpentry supplies, as needed.
  • Ability to verbally communicate effectively with guests and coworkers.
Education or Certification

  • Progressive experience of at least 3 years as a Carpenter in a 5star hotel

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • The following are specific responsibilities and contributions critical to the successful performance of the position:_
  • Ensure the optimum condition and appearance all glass & wooden interior design elements, and FF&E finishes by following the preventive maintenance program
  • Study specifications in blueprints, sketches or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
  • Ensure that all flammable materials are stored in OSHA approved containment devices.
  • Carry all equipment (e.g., keys, phones, pager, tools, radio) in order to maintain preparedness to carry out work tasks at all times
  • Respond and attend to guest repair requests, as assigned.
  • Report any serious maintenance problems, unusual findings, or safety hazards immediately to the manager/supervisor.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both in person and over the phone when dealing with management, Employees, and guests.
  • Staingrade, trim work, hang doors, drill and set door hardware, set windows, layout for stairs and common rafters etc.
  • Read blueprints, mathematical and analytical skills are necessary to do material estimates.
  • Maintains general mathematical skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to work with carpentry tools and materials.
  • Should be able to lift and manipulate objects of up to 80 lbs as and when required.
  • Possesses extensive knowledge of the carpentry trade as well as repair and maintenance of the property.
  • Always keep the work area clean and well organized.
  • Climbs ladders to reach raised areas and works from scaffolding.
  • Operates various types of woodworking machines and electrical hand tools.
  • Maintains physical stamina and proper mental attitude to deal effectively with guests, management, and other employees.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines set for each tasks.
  • Repair and replace items such as furniture, wall coverings, acoustical ceiling panels, gypsum board, masonry or any other miscellaneous tasks such as wooden polishing etc.
  • Designs, cuts, build and assemble wooden parts or furniture as requested.
  • Assemble and set prefabricated pieces.
  • Repairs and rebuilds various objects in wood, cardboard, PVC, etc.
  • Assemble, disassemble and repair hydraulic locking arms, locks, boards, doors, furniture, wooden shelves.
  • Installs coating montages on doors, frames and desks.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies needed to perform the job functions.
  • Assist housekeeping and engineering staffs during room preventive maintenance and guest room upgrade.
  • Keep track of repairs made or areas that need more attention.
  • Keep communication open between guests, management and service tasks.
  • Report to management on major repairs and items that can't be repaired for further action.
  • Perform general maintenance work or other tasks assigned by supervisor /chief engineer.
  • Comply with the General Regulations Employee Manual and other policies and procedures to ensure the safety and efficiency of the operation of the Hotel.
