Collections Officer Responsibilities:

  • Collection Officer help companies get paid. Their job is to track down people who owe money from overdue bills and negotiate payment.
  • Usually, this is done over the phone or by mail. If that person is no longer at that address or phone number, they may try to track them down using the web, field visits or other social means.
  • Collection Officer keeps track of the debtors to make sure that they are repaying what is owed.
  • Adhere to strict compliance policy for collection process.
  • Contacting customers and informing them of their overdue bills.
  • Advising customers on their payment options and suggesting methods of payments.
  • Negotiating suitable payment plans.
  • Maintaining customer payment records.
  • Writing final notice warnings to customers when payments are not being made.
  • Instituting legal action when customers fail to pay their debt.
  • Responding to customer queries.
