Wood is currently looking for an Occupational Health Nurse to join our team in Dubai, UAE


The Occupational Health Nurse is a dedicated regional/in country role to monitor employee health, support the HR team based in Dubai to manage both pre-placement and recall medical assessments with Wood's global medical provider, support with the case management and return to work assessments of injured and ill employees on the contracts, help the local HSE teams to meet health and safety standards to reduce work-related injuries, and educate the workforce about positive health choices to support better health and wellbeing.


  • Support the HR teams in the management and booking of preplacement and recall medicals for those working in and travelling to Iraq with Wood's Global Medical Provider
  • Provide advice on the nature of medical conditions and the risk they may pose in order to support business decision making processes
  • Support the HR team in managing ill and injured employees and guide on when fitness to work assessments are required
  • Liaise with Wood's Global Assistance Provider as necessary when medevacs out of Iraq are occurring
  • Educate and train employees in the health risks they may face, especially for those working in Iraq
  • Act as a focal point to allow Iraq rotational employees declare any change in status to their health, new medications etc and arrange any necessary assessment to determine fitness to work in a high risk environment based on this
  • Identifying workplace hazards and assisting in the development of safety policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with the company's healthcare providers and insurers to set up Annual Physical Exam (APE) / Pre placement Medical Exam (PEME) for Dubai based staff and ensure that the schedule works well for everyone
  • Closely work with HSSE, HR and Group Health Protection Team to raise health awareness
  • Promote worker productivity by supporting, developing and implementing health policies as necessary.
  • Advise employees on issues concerning mental and physical health.
  • Actively participate in Company wellness programs and initiatives
  • Provide first aid care as needed / provide emergency treatment in the workplace as needed
  • Ensure that reports are submitted on time and made available to the Departments and Clients (as needed)
  • Maintain an updated database for all active employees to reflect employees' FTW/ Health status (employee injuries/illness and the like)
  • Aid in facilitation of Wood's Emergency Response Plan
  • Remain uptodate with current health and safety legislation.

Qualifications:

  • Nursing degree and current license with relevant country registration board with additional post qualification experience and certification in occupational health
  • First Aid training

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • 5+ years in occupational health nursing role
  • Indepth knowledge of health and safety measures.
  • Good planning and organizational skills
  • High level of communication skills in both written and spoken format
  • Effective/competent IT skills
