JOBDESCRIPTION:

  • Thisposition will be directly reporting to the Dean of the College andwill be supervised by the Head of theDepartment.
  • Thebasic role of the Assistant Instructor is to provide effectivesupport to the faculty in carrying out their responsibilitiestowards the university and its students throughout their journeyfrom start to finish. This involves assistance in teaching advisingsupervising training guiding and supporting students in allcurricular and cocurricular activities which include social andrecreational activities.
  • Inaddition to teaching activities the Assistant Instructor isrequired to assist the faculty in research activities as well asprovide assistance in all activities related to the servicesprovided by the universitytouniversity stakeholders.
  • TheAssistant Instructor should have appropriate qualifications andexperience to provide skills to engage positively with therequirements of the work and should be able to adapt to flexibleworkinghours.


KEYRESULTS/ACCOUNTABILITIES EXPECTED FROM THEROLE:

  • Providesupport to the faculty/instructor to ensure a safe and stimulatingthe educationalenvironment.
  • Assistthe faculty/instructor in the planning preparation andimplementation of daily teaching/learningactivities.
  • Assistthe faculty in planning preparing and developing various teachingaids for use in theclassroom.
  • Assistin the planning developing and management of teachinglaboratories.
  • Assiststudents individually or in groups with lesson assignments topresent or reinforce learningconcepts.
  • Participatein college committees and carry out other tasks related to course/college assigned by Dean Head of Department and/ or courseInstructor.
  • Helpstudents and researchers in the college in conducting experimentsresearch andprojects.
  • Assistfaculty/instructor in organizing and implementing internshipprograms.
  • Assistfaculty in activities related to studentadvising.
  • Assistin organizing and implementing cocurricular activities within theuniversity andoutside.


PREFFEREDQUALIFICATIONS ANDCHARACTERISTICS:

  • Aminimum of Bachelor of Science degree in the relevant disciplinewith the ability to demonstrate strong communication skillsadequate English proficiency and ability to use software packagesand engage with the latest learning/teachingtools.
  • Abilityto communicate effectively both orally and inwriting.
  • Abilityto understand and follow specific instructions andprocedures.
  • Abilityto provide activities for students that encourage learningabilities.
  • Supervisoryskills.
  • Abilityto provide a supportive and caring environment forstudents.
  • Skillin preparing instructional aids andplans.
  • Abilityto update and develop professionally through further education andtraining.
