Ensure patients feel as comfortable aspossible before their examination
Sterilize dentalinstruments properly
Conduct initial mouth screenings andcheck oral health history
Identify conditions likegingivitis, caries or periodontitis
Clean and helpprotect patients’ teeth (e.g. remove plaque or applyfluoride)
Educate patients of all ages on proper teethcare (by demonstrating, for example, good brushingtechniques)
Give instructions to patients afteroperations or other dental procedures
Take X-rays ordental impressions
Assist dentists with selectingappropriate treatments for various diseases (including oralcancer)
Maintain documentation and charts on eachpatient
Monitorsupplies

Requirements

Provenexperience as Dental Hygienist or similar role
In-depthknowledge of health and safety regulations in this profession (e.g.HIPAA)
Experience in preparing and maintaining dentalequipment
Outstanding communication skills
Apatient and friendly personality
Attention todetail
Stamina to meet the physical demands of thejob
Diploma in Dental Hygiene; Master’s is aplus
Valid license to practice
