Operating RoomRegistered Nurse

JOBSUMMARY

The Operating Room (OR) RegisteredNurse (RN)is responsible for providing patient care based upon thenursing process; being effectively involved with maintaining thestandard of care for assigned patients throughout the perioperativeprocess through assessment, planning, implementation andevaluation. The Registered Nurse shall oversee and guide employeesthat are under his/her supervision and collaborate with surgicalteam to strategize, implement and evaluate care plans for eachpatient. The Registered Nurse is under the direction of theDirector of Nursing or the ASC Administrator.

JOBDESCRIPTION
Conduct care with empathy atthe heart of every interaction; Empathy is one of PPOA s corevalues
Perform initial pre-opassessment and formulates appropriate plan of care for a positivepatient outcomeProvide competent care incirculating cases and efficiently providing equipment/suppliesbased on patientsneed
Effectively maintains sterilefield by practicing aseptictechniques
Accurately documents patienthealth records
Provides high quality carewhile using resourcesefficiently
Communicate appropriate datato the physician and other patient care teammembers
Interpret and implementphysician s orders; perform treatments according to acceptedstandards and policies; evaluate and document effectiveness oftreatments
Anticipate potential patientproblems and take the necessary precautions to minimize thoseproblems to ensure patient safety in OR andASC
Identify and report unsafepractice and/or procedures to promotecomplianceDemonstrate knowledge andskill requirements regarding his/her role in the
Safety Management Program(Safety/Security), Infection Control, Hazardous Materials,Emergency Preparedness, Life Safety, Medical Equipment and UtilitySystems, and his/her expected level of participation. Submitdocumentation of annualupdates.
Interact professionally andcourteously with physicians, patients, patient s families,visitors, members of the public andco-workers.Attend and participate instaff meetings, read and return all monthly staff meeting minutesin a timely manner
Encourage and promote crosstraining activities for professional growth and in order tocontribute to the overall function of theCenter
Ensure that supplies andequipment are available for patientcare
Maintain and submitdocumentation of required current licensure and/orcertification
Attend staff meetings, readand return all monthly meeting minutes.
Attendance recordnot to fall below 8 out of the 12 annual staffmeetings
Responsible for knowingcurrent policies and procedures, protocol and practices of theCenter

Function within scope ofpractice based on licensure, education, skills and experience;Recognize limitations and asks for guidance whennecessary
CNOR preferred but notrequired

Requirements

Currently active StateRegistered NursingLicense
Current BCLS annalscertification

IV Sedation course completionand certification upon hirepreferred
Must be able to demonstratethe knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate tothe age of patients served in theCenter.
Effectivecommunicator--appreciates and respects others needs, opinions, andconcerns


KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS ANDABILITIES
Demonstrates current,comprehensive, professional knowledge and skills in conformancewith recognized nursing standards and department policies includingthe Patient Bill of Rights and AAAHC regulations, Standards forNursing Care and the Nurse PracticeAct
Knowledge of governmentregulations, HIPAA, documentation standards, and other compliancestandards and ability to work in fullcompliance
Ability to read andcommunicate effectively in English. Additional languagespreferred.
Ability to communicate in aprofessional manner--able to counsel/teach customers, trainco-workers, and positively contribute to marketing/publicrelations. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaintsfrom patients, regulatory agencies, or members of the medical andbusiness community.
Proficient computerskills-ability to accurately update and manage and electronichealthcare record

HOURSAND WORKINGCONDITIONS
The job will be Monday thru Friday, withoccasional Saturdays. Workhours may be subject to change,depending on surgery site.
