JOB PURPOSE: TheClinical Informatics role promotes the understanding, integration,and application of information technology in healthcare settings,ensuring adequate and qualified support of clinician objectives andindustry best practices. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT NOTLIMITED TO: Responsible for strategic and operational leadership inthe development, deployment, re-engineering and integration ofclinical information systems (CIS) to support clinicians andpatient service.

Improve the clinical quality,safety, and operational integrity of clinical informationsystems.

Ensures the development of testareas, system test data, and testing methods prior toimplementation of new or revised systems and is accountable forpost-implementation reviews.

Demonstratesfiscal leadership and responsibility in utilizingresources.

Work collaboratively withAdministration and leaders at each location to establish short andlong-term goals, training, and implementation plans for the nursingprograms.

Plans, prioritizes, summarizes,directs and supervises staff, users and vendors in clinical systemsdevelopment and support functions with an emphasis on complete,accurate and secure systems.

Responsible forimplementing and managing information security directives asmandated by the HIPAA security rule and other regulatory laws andstatues.

Ensures the ongoing integration ofinformation security with business strategies andrequirements.

Ensures that the access control,disaster recovery, and business continuity needs of theorganization are properly addressed.

Workswith vendors outside consultants, and other third parties to ensurethat information systems are adequately protected and meet HIPAAcertification requirements.

Works inconjunction with the Corporate Compliance Committees to contain,investigate and prevent computer securitybreaches.
