Role Context The Fitness Equipment Technician helps keep gym and exercise equipment safe, functional, and ready for customer use. The position combines workshop repairs with on-site installation and servicing, requiring accurate assembly, fault identification, testing, refurbishment, and clear communication with customers. Because the technician represents the business directly during installations and service visits, technical competence must be matched by professional conduct and the ability to explain equipment functions or service outcomes clearly.

Key Responsibilities

• Repair fitness and gym equipment according to manufacturer specifications and product requirements.
• Assemble exercise machines and related components accurately before installation or delivery.
• Install equipment at customer locations and ensure each unit is positioned and assembled correctly.
• Test equipment after installation or repair to confirm all functions operate as intended.
• Diagnose faults affecting mechanical or operational performance.
• Carry out servicing and corrective repairs on damaged or malfunctioning fitness machines.
• Refurbish returned equipment and restore machines to acceptable operating condition.
• Fabricate or modify components where necessary to complete approved refurbishment work.
• Inspect repaired equipment carefully before release from the workshop or return to the customer.
• Maintain workshop inventory records covering equipment, spare parts, tools, and related materials.
• Report repair findings, recurring faults, parts requirements, and service observations to the relevant team.
• Work closely with mechanics, workshop personnel, and office staff to coordinate service requirements.
• Provide professional customer service during equipment delivery, installation, repair, and maintenance visits.
• Explain relevant equipment features, operating functions, and basic usage information to customers.
• Maintain a personable and professional approach when interacting with customers on-site.
• Follow all applicable safety procedures during assembly, installation, testing, repair, and refurbishment activities.
• Inspect tools and equipment before use and ensure they remain in safe working condition.
• Report damaged tools, unsafe equipment, or workshop hazards promptly.
• Handle machines and components carefully to prevent unnecessary damage during transport, repair, or installation.
• Maintain an orderly and safe workshop environment.
• Complete additional technical or operational duties assigned by the line manager.

Ideal Profile

Candidates should hold a High School Certificate or Diploma. A Bachelor 's Degree is preferred but not mandatory. Applicants must have 3-5 years of relevant technical experience. Previous hands‑on experience repairing and maintaining sports or gym equipment is mandatory. The successful candidate should be comfortable working with mechanical assemblies, fitness machines, workshop tools, replacement parts, and equipment testing procedures. Strong attention to safety is essential because the position involves machinery, tools, heavy equipment, and customer‑site installations. Candidates should also demonstrate good communication and customer service skills, particularly when explaining service work or equipment functionality. The role suits a practical technician who enjoys fault‑finding, repairing equipment, and working both independently and as part of a workshop and service team.
