Role Context
The Consultant ENT Surgeon will provide comprehensive medical and surgical care for adult and adolescent patients with ear, nose, throat, sinus, and nasal structural disorders while maintaining a strong subspecialty focus on functional and aesthetic rhinoplasty. The position combines diagnostic ENT practice with advanced nasal surgery, airway restoration, facial structural assessment, trauma reconstruction, endoscopic sinus treatment, and postoperative follow-up. The consultant will work closely with plastic surgery, maxillofacial surgery, anesthesia, radiology, and other specialists to achieve safe functional and cosmetic outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consultant-level assessment and treatment for adult and adolescent ENT patients.
- Diagnose a broad range of ear, nose, throat, and sinus disorders.
- Conduct detailed consultations for patients seeking functional or aesthetic nasal surgery.
- Review presenting symptoms, previous procedures, trauma history, medical history, medications, allergies, and patient expectations.
- Perform comprehensive examination of the nose, nasal airway, septum, turbinates, external nasal framework, and surrounding facial structures.
- Assess nasal symmetry, projection, rotation, dorsal profile, tip support, and airway function.
- Identify structural causes of nasal obstruction.
- Evaluate deviated nasal septum.
- Assess internal and external nasal valve dysfunction.
- Diagnose turbinate hypertrophy where clinically relevant.
- Evaluate congenital nasal deformities.
- Assess post-traumatic nasal deformity.
- Review functional impairment following previous nasal surgery.
- Evaluate patients requesting primary rhinoplasty.
- Assess candidates for revision rhinoplasty.
- Develop individualized surgical plans based on anatomy, function, aesthetic goals, and clinical findings.
- Explain realistic surgical outcomes.
- Discuss limitations and potential need for staged treatment.
- Counsel patients regarding functional and aesthetic trade-offs.
- Perform functional rhinoplasty within approved clinical privileges.
- Perform cosmetic rhinoplasty.
- Conduct septoplasty.
- Perform septorhinoplasty.
- Undertake nasal reconstruction following trauma or disease.
- Manage complex nasal deformities according to surgical expertise.
- Perform appropriate nasal valve reconstruction.
- Correct structural airway abnormalities.
- Utilize cartilage grafting techniques where clinically indicated.
- Perform graft harvesting within approved procedural scope.
- Apply structural rhinoplasty principles to preserve or improve airway function.
- Select open or closed rhinoplasty approaches according to individual anatomy and treatment objectives.
- Perform revision nasal surgery where appropriately credentialed and clinically indicated.
- Assess scar tissue and structural changes following previous rhinoplasty.
- Develop corrective strategies for persistent airway obstruction or deformity.
- Manage nasal trauma.
- Evaluate acute and chronic nasal fractures.
- Determine appropriate timing for surgical intervention.
- Coordinate reconstruction following complex facial injury.
- Collaborate with maxillofacial or plastic surgeons for extensive trauma cases.
- Diagnose chronic rhinosinusitis.
- Evaluate patients with persistent sinus symptoms.
- Perform nasal endoscopy.
- Assess sinonasal anatomy and mucosal disease endoscopically.
- Request CT imaging when clinically appropriate.
- Interpret CT scans of the paranasal sinuses in clinical context.
- Diagnose anatomical contributors to sinus obstruction.
- Perform functional endoscopic sinus surgery within approved clinical privileges.
- Manage appropriate inflammatory sinonasal disease.
- Coordinate medical treatment before considering surgery where indicated.
- Evaluate nasal polyps where relevant.
- Monitor postoperative sinus healing.
- Perform postoperative nasal endoscopy when required.
- Conduct comprehensive preoperative assessment.
