HSE Specialist

The HSE Specialist is responsible for supporting the implementation of Tajmee’e’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures by participating in assisting in risk assessments, follow up implementation of risk mitigation programs, facilitating compliance activities, delivering safety training and awareness sessions, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives helping to prevent incidents, safeguard personnel and assets, and uphold regulatory and organizational HSE standards.

Responsibilities

Support the operational implementation of HSE policies and procedures, ensuring understanding and consistent compliance across all sites, resulting in uniform HSE standards and mitigating HSE risks. Assist in developing and delivering HSE training materials in coordination with the training department; conduct toolbox talks, site inductions, and safety awareness sessions; identify training gaps for escalation. Perform frontline hazard identification and risk assessments for routine and non-routine tasks, support risk assessments for new projects, equipment, or processes, and conduct behavioural safety observations to promote safe work practices, proactively preventing incidents and reducing workplace hazards. Conduct routine field-level HSE inspections and walkthroughs to ensure compliance with HSE policies and procedures, identify operational gaps during inspections, recommend corrective actions, and coordinate with external agencies during compliance audits, maintaining a safe and legally compliant working environment.

Verify the use of approved personal protective equipment (PPE), including occupational health-related PPE such as respiratory and hearing protection, permit-to-work documentation, and housekeeping measures to reduce task-specific hazards and protect workforce health. When applicable facilitate permit-to-work processes for high-risk activities by verifying completion of pre-task requirements, coordinating with field supervisors, and tracking permit durations and closeouts, ensuring controlled execution and preventing unsafe work practices. Report unsafe conditions or behaviours in real time and support the investigation and documentation of incidents and near-misses by collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, and assisting in root cause analysis to prevent recurrence and improve safety performance. Maintain digital operational HSE and occupational health records, including medical surveillance data and fitness-for-duty certifications, to support compliance verification and audit readiness, ensuring transparency and regulatory adherence.

HSE Program Implementation : Plans and executes comprehensive HSE programs tailored to operational needs and risk profiles, ensuring compliance and fostering a safe workplace culture. Risk Assessment and Control Measures : Leverages enterprise-wide hazard identification and risk analysis to implement robust control strategies that decisively mitigate risks and ensure sustained operational excellence.

Qualifications

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline. Preferably, professional certifications such as an Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health – International General Certificate (NEBOSH IGC), International Organization for Standardization 45001/14001 Internal Auditor (ISO 45001/14001), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), or equivalent are highly desirable, demonstrating advanced technical knowledge, regulatory awareness, and a commitment to continuous professional development.
