Radiation Therapist

EssentialResponsibilities

• Operates all CT/SIM and treatmentequipment including linear accelerators and high dose rate afterloading machine.
• Performs morning check andwarm-up of CT/SIM and/or accelerators.
• Operatestreatment machines as well as all patient support assemblies aswell as Record and Verify system.
• Treatspatients with prescribed mode, energy, dose, and monitorunits/treatment time as prescribed by aphysician.
• Performs patient set-ups as perphysician prescription and according to Department Policies andProcedures.
• Participates in a team approach togiving radiation treatments.
• Maintainstreatment records, schedules patient treatments and providespatient instructions.
• Makes patient set-updevices, immobilization devices, and radiation field-shapingblocks.
• Prepares patient treatmentchart.
• Exhibits standards of professionalbehavior appropriate to the age-specific needs of eachpatient.
• Protects patients, staff, visitors,and self from unnecessary radiation exposure orinjury.
• Prevents transmission of infectiousdisease through adherence to infection controlpractices.
• Maintains good verbal and writtencommunication skills and works collaboratively with all staffmembers.
• Exhibits excellent customer serviceskills.
  

Experience

BasicQualifications:

• One year recent (within the pastthree years) using various radiation therapyequipment.
• Per the National Agreement, currentKP Coalition employees have this experience requirementwaived.

• RadiologicTechnologist Certification from American Registry of RadiologicTechnologists OR American Registry of Radiologic TechnologistsCertificate - Radiation Therapy Technologist from American Registryof Radiologic Technologists

• Excellent customer service skills andTeam- oriented.

PreferredQualifications

• Use of record and verify system andmulti-leaf collimators.
• Onboard Imaging (OBI)experience preferred.
• Graduate of a JCERTaccredited program preferred.
