EssentialResponsibilities

  • Designs treatment plans by means ofcomputer and/or manual computation that will deliver a prescribeddose and field placement technique in accordance with the RadiationOncologists prescription to a defined tumor volume, withconsideration to dose limitingstructures.
  • Performs calculations for deliveryof prescribed dose and documents calculation in patientschart.
  • Performs verification of mathematicalaccuracy of all calculations using establishedsystem.
  • Serves as a resource to the therapistsworking in all areas including simulation, high dose rate,orthovoltage, and treatment.
  • Coordinatestreatment planning information between physicists, therapists, andphysicians as necessary.
  • Reviews patientscharts after planning to ensure that simulation information iscorrect and reproducible.
  • Prepare radiationoncology chart for patients with individualized treatment planseither external beam orbrachytheraphy.
  • Performs in-vivo dosimetry withTLDs or diodes and helps maintain the TLDs anddiodes.
  • Serves as a resource to the RadiationOncology Aide.
  • Assists physicists inannual/bi-yearly treatment machinecalibrations.
  • Helps to maintain statistics ofbrachytheraphy and intracavitarycases.
  • Provides input to the technicalsupervisor for the completion of employee performanceappraisals.
  • Participates in panel interviewsfor open technical positions.

Experience

BasicQualifications:

  • Minimum one (1) year of clinicalexperience in dosimetry required (w/CMD). If applicant is graduatedfrom credited/approved CMD training program, then it counts as 1year clinical experience.
  • Minimum one (1) yearof experience working with linear accelerators. If applicant isgraduated from credited/approved CMD training program, then itcounts as 1 year clinical experience with Linacs

Education

  • High School Diploma or GeneralEducation Development (GED) required.

License, Certification,Registration

  • MedicalDosimetrist Certificate

AdditionalRequirements

  • Demonstrated ability to utilize/applyknowledge of computers, computer treatment planning, planningtechniques and procedures.
  • Knowledge ofradiation physics, dosimetry and State, Federal, and localradiation regulations.
  • Must be able to work ina Labor/Management Partnership environment.

  • 4-Ten HourShifts.
