NAS Abu Dhabi is seeking toappoint an energetic highly motivated and passionate Assistant Headof EYFS & Lower Primary. Applicants should be team playerswho bring a genuine love of teaching and learning and a commitmentto pupil wellbeing and wider school life. Applicants need to bequalified teachers with QTS and have experience of working with theEarly Years Foundation Stage curriculum. Candidates should becommitted to ongoing school improvement and feel comfortable in aclimate of change and innovative development. This is a rareopportunity to take on the leadership of a key department.
Main Tasks:
  • To deliver high quality Early Years teaching and learningpromoting excellence and upholding the Schools Aims andMission.
  • The Early Years practice needs toinform the schools strategic planning through data analysiscurriculum and staff review and regulatory requirements and byidentifying opportunities to improve the Early Years curriculum andoffer within the school.
  • To develop keyrelationships with pupils staff and parents and the Admissions andMarketing team to drive pupil recruitment.
  • Involvement in morning and afternoon activities includingpromoting the outdoor learning environment.
  • Towrite monitor and update all EYFS policies.
  • Lead on teaching and learning initiatives in the EYFS& Lower Primary Department to deliver a curriculum that isrich balanced creative and innovative and which meets the needs ofall children.
  • Keep abreast of developments ineducational thinking and research and update curriculum andteaching in line with developments.
  • Organiseand manage all reports to parents including digital portfolios e.g.Seesaw and Early Years Parents Meetings.
  • Maintain a high level of behaviour among children whilstpromoting safety and compliance with school rules and guidelines.
  • Create a departmental handbook; plan andstructure exciting and imaginative schemes of work to ensure thatpupils are appropriately challenged make strong progress and areinspired by their learning.
  • Liaise with theHead of Inclusion to ensure that pupils of all abilities receivethe most appropriate support or extension ensuring thatintervention strategies are in place and monitored.
  • Chair regular EYFS & Lower Primary departmentmeetings develop targets within the department and work towardstheir achievement.
  • Enrich opportunities forpupils by organising regular workshops visiting speakers andeducational trips.
  • To promote and publiciseboth internally and externally the work and achievements of thechildren through the NAS Abu Dhabi Comms Team.
  • Lead the department in the development of IT basedlearning.
  • To be responsible for the EYFS& Lower Primary Department budget including planningrecording and reviewing expenditure as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate the highest standards in planning andassessment and strive to raise standards of attainment andachievement ensuring an appropriately differentiated curriculum isdelivered.
  • To ensure there is effective dataanalysis to inform pupil progress frequent target setting andtracking of pupil performance according to thesetargets.
  • To lead the EYFS team from Nurserythrough to Reception to ensure cohesion and collaboration betweenthe staff.
  • To ensure there is a smoothtransition between the phases through effective communication withparents and staff. In particular the transition from FS2 to Year1.

  • Lead by example both in a teaching capacity and throughsupporting the schools activities performances andevents.
  • Promote the vision and aims of theschool.
  • Raise aspirations in standards ofteaching and learning.
  • Ensure the effectivestrategic direction leadership and management of all aspects ofEYFS & Lower Primary school organisation.
  • Attend all Leadership meetings and share minutetaking.
  • In writing and reviewing schoolpolicies meet all statutory guidelines.
  • Ensurethe School is ready to meet and exceed all requirements regardinginspections.
  • Work as a team contributing ideasand innovations.

GeneralResponsibilities:


  • Uphold and enforce schoolrules and to work in cooperation with colleagues to promote thehigh standards of behaviour and concern for others.
  • Attend INSET sessions and such other meetings as may benecessary for the discharge of teaching pastoral or otherduties.
  • Cover for absent colleagues whennecessary.
  • Participate in the schoolsassessment recordkeeping and reporting system.
  • Teach lessons in accordance with the schools curriculumincluding all necessary preparation marking record keeping andreporting.
