The Lead Data Engineer is afully participating member of a crossfunctional team workingautonomously on technology development and problem resolution inthe Enterprise Data & Analytics space. The role involvesthe design development testing implementation support andmaintenance of technical data and analytic solutions and productsthat support Emirates Airlines and the Emirates Group businesseswith a focus on technical solution design and endtoend fit withinthe data architecture. The position demands indepth expertise inthe respective technology profiles and involves collaboration withbusiness stakeholders product owners delivery leads architects andsite reliability engineers to deliver highquality product featuressuccessfully and in a timely fashion.

In this role you will be responsiblefor below:

• Lead technicaldesign development and deployment for solutions within a team.Carry out effective technical design reviews to ensure that theright architecture patterns are used by the team. Conduct requiredsource system analysis data profiling sourcetotarget mappingactivities and data modeling (both logical and physical) to ensuredelivery of business needs.
• Complete dataengineering coding and design tasks on problems of high scope andcomplexity. Demonstrate good coding principles and exercise goodjudgment in designing and building solutions. Conduct code reviewfor peers. Ensure solutions adhere to published data privacy andcybersecurity principles.
• Implement andpractice fitforpurpose estimation techniques to promote iterativedelivery. Help the team in refining estimates during sprintplanning with optimal assumptions and interdependencyunderstanding.
• Operate with a datadrivenmindset. Help translate data and analytics requirements into datasolutions based on the approved technical designs. Assist with dataanalysis activities such as source system analysis and datamodeling to ensure solutions deliver on business needs. Work withteam members to envision solutions as a set of data products anddata pipelines.
• Ensure solutions being builtare stable scalable and maintainable. Enable test automation andensure CI/CD pipelines are in good health. Implement monitoring ofdata applications and track product quality performance andstability. Drive corrective adaptive preventative and perfectiveactions to maintain solution reliability and quality.
• Collaborate with members of thecrossfunctional team to identify areas of inefficiency and proposesolutions. Identify activities resulting in optimal resourceutilization cost reduction technical debt remediation serviceimprovement and reuse value. Partner with architects and productowners to prioritize and implement such activities.
• Update data inventories and registries asrequired to keep metadata and data lineage uptodate followingagreed Data Governance standards guidelines and principles.
• Partner with fellow team members PrincipalData Engineers and Architects for developing and implementing dataengineering best practices and modernization techniques promotingsolution reusability process automation builtinquality testdrivendevelopment agile delivery timely root cause analysis and blamelessincident postmortems. Key contributor in building and adopting dataengineering playbooks for the relevant technologies and ensuringadherence to said playbooks as well as other published codingstandards data technology blueprints.
• Workeffectively on incident resolution conducting root cause analysisand handling business escalations. Engage other technical expertsand vendor partners in the timely resolution of incidents. Maintainregular and transparent communication during incident management.Conduct postmortem and lessonslearned discussions.
• Key contributor and catalyst in attracting andretaining data engineering talent. Handhold new joiners to ensuresuccessful onboarding. Support engineering leadership for venturinginto different working models for scaling up the data engineeringteam in line with deliverycommitments.

Qualifications& Experience: Qualifications:

• Information Technology& Other 5 Years of experience Degree or Honours (123 orequivalent).
• Degree in a relevant field suchas Computer Science Computational Mathematics Computer Engineeringor Software Engineering.
• Specialization orelectives in a Data & Analytics field (e.g. DataWarehousing Data Science Business Intelligence) a nicetohave
• 5 years of experience in Data Engineering(Fewer years experience will be considered for Masters degreeholders)

Experience:

• Expertise in Data Warehouseengineering including extraction transformation and data processingby developing/managing corresponding database tables.
• Expertise in database engineering andexperience in SQL/PLSQL. A key contributor to the organizationalframework that standardizes the process of data collection storagetransformation distribution and usage.
• Expertise in proactive performance monitoringconducting data quality testing and troubleshooting performanceissues of complex warehouse data tables.
• Experience in assembling data from multiplesources and analyzing and modeling complex datasets.
• Strong expertise in cocreating and refiningkey measurements for the business KPI(s) dashboard designingimplementing the right performance metrics and usage of datavisualization for effective implementation of business insights.
• Deep understanding of visual design standardsand best practices related to BI & Reporting.
• Experience in building reusable components.
• Experience designing monitoring and alertingsolutions for data pipelines and data repositories.
• Operates with efficiency and automation inmind; experience building reliable reusable automation frameworks(e.g. CI/CD)
• Airline industry experience isnice to have.

Knowledge/Skills:

• Strong ability to conductdata analysis (e.g. source system identification datadictionary/metadata collection data profiling sourcetotargetmapping) is preferred.

• Demonstrated problemsolver; able to design anddocument solutions independently.
• Team player:able to collaborate with others to remove blockers solve complexdesign problems and debug/resolve issues.
