In 2025, Teach For All will pilot its Global Institute to catalyze a global shift toward teaching and learning that supports holistic student leadership development by enabling cross-border learning and sharing among education practitioners. Composed of a research lab, academy of courses and workshops, resource hub, and advocacy arm, the Global Institute will be a critical lever for advancing intended outcomes.
Teach For All is looking for a strategic, proactive, and highly organized individual to join the emerging Global Institute team by October 2024 as our Global Strategy & Operations Lead. This role sits at the center of complex programmatic operations and cross-team collaboration, and is responsible for managing the systems, communications, and administrative tasks that ensure our co-learners, our faculty, and our team are connected, aligned, and supported. The person in this role will support the Directors of the Institute and the Academy, and will foster productive collaboration with Teach For All's global teams. The right candidate will demonstrate exceptional organization, communication, problem-solving, and flexible project management skills, all with a strong, relational approach to collective action.
About the Team
The leadership team of the Global Institute and its Academy will include a global mix of experienced and new staff members, all committed to challenging and changing education to grow students as leaders of a more just, equitable, and sustainable future. We will be contracting with people across and beyond our network to serve as faculty for the academy. While the Global Institute team is a formal sub-team that sits within the broader Collective Learning and Consulting team at Teach For All, we work across teams quite fluidly as key initiatives are co-owned by people across the organization.
Key Outcomes for this Role Include:
- Shared clarity on strategy and practices for reflecting on progress in a data-rooted way
- Clear, flexible plans that guide our work
- Strong, productive relationships and collaboration with other teams
- Smooth operations that enable collective learning, as reported by participants
- Fulfilling team commitments on planned timelines
- A well prioritized and managed budget
As the Global Strategy and Operations Lead for the Global Institute, you will engage in the following and/or similar activities:
- GUIDING COLLECTIVE STRATEGIC PLANNING IN OUR DYNAMIC CONTEXT. To help ensure Global Institute team members are invested and committed to clear, collectively developed yearly and quarterly plans to meet our goals, the person in this role will work collaboratively with colleagues, navigating ambiguity and our changing external environment, to develop and execute strategic plans; monitor progress towards objectives and convene team members as needed to adjust plans.
- FOSTERING CONNECTIONS, COLLABORATION & COHERENCE. The person in this role will work with the heads of the lab, hub, and academy, as well as key colleagues in the wider global organization, to ensure everyone working on the Global Institute is productively connected and aligned. This person will navigate competing needs and priorities, build strong relationships virtually and cross-culturally, and operate in ways that are inclusive and collaborative to inspire team members to bring their full selves to our work. The person in this role will monitor and share progress, using those data to foster team collaboration and culture.
- OVERSEEING RESOURCES / CAPACITY. The person in this role will manage a project-wide budget (of ~2M$), ensuring we are tracking expenses against our donor commitments and strategically investing resources. This person will lead the team through an annual budget-setting process, ongoing budget tracking, and reforecasting etc. Due to the contributions of the Global Strategy and Operations Lead, the heads of the lab, hub, and academy will have clarity around our budget and available resources, and will have the support they need from Teach For All's global support teams. And the global teams we work with will have predictable clarity about the Global Institute's needs and feel invested in and appreciated by the Global Institute.
- MANAGING, OPERATIONS AND LOGISTICS. Due to the contributions of the person in this role, our participants, faculty, and team will have the systems, rituals, and resources necessary to collaborate to be successful. The Global Strategy and Operations lead will create and manage scalable operational systems and processes to achieve strategic goals, and assess existing organizational systems and processes and look for opportunities to integrate and/or improve them with those created for the Global Institute for Transforming Education. This person will also co-develop and then manage the data and information strategy for the Global Institute for Transforming Education.
- FOSTERING TEAM CULTURE AND DEVELOPMENT. The Global Strategy and Operations Lead will manage a Senior Associate and together they will lend critical capacity to a range of key initiatives within the team, from fostering team culture and development to problem-solving around key challenges and critical initiatives to managing contracts/vendors to leading working groups, etc.
As the ideal candidate, you will bring:
- Experience managing complex projects, teams, and operations to deadlines in a dynamic/fluid/ambiguous environment
- Ability to build relationships/partnerships and communicate across cultures and virtually
- Ability to mobilize others without formal authority
- Ability to operate with little direction
- Deep commitment to diversity and inclusiveness - as a manager, within this team, across teams, in self-learning etc.
- Demonstrated commitment to reimagine education to support holistic student leadership outcomes
- Demonstrated embodiment of Teach For All's values and a commitment to:
- Reflect a sense of possibility in mindset and vision
- Believe in the value of being locally rooted and globally informed
- Drive toward constant learning and improvement
- Be convinced of the necessity of diversity and inclusiveness in our work
- Believe in the interdependence between us and our partners in solving this global problem
Additional desirable skills/experiences (not required):
- Familiarity with the Teach For All network
- Strong written and verbal communications in a language other than English is helpful
What Teach For All Offers:
- A culture in which all staff members feel they belong, are valued for their contributions, and have an impact on our organization's progress
- Professional and personal development experiences and ample opportunities to make a positive impact on the work of Teach For All and beyond
- Comprehensive benefits package designed for your well-being and work-life needs
- All roles are 100% remote; in some locations we offer the option for in-office collaborations
- Generous time off and flexible work arrangements
- And much more

About Teach For All
Teach For All supports and connects a global network of independent organizations working around the world to ensure that every child has access to an equitable and excellent education. Each organization in the network, conceived and launched by a local entrepreneur, enlists its nation's most promising leaders to teach in high-need areas for two years, and, in the long-term, drive systemic changes from within and outside of the education sector.
Teach For All is catalyzing an international movement to expand educational opportunity. At the center of this network, Teach For All plays a unique role: it helps local organizations overcome common challenges by providing direct support services and serving as a hub for the exchange of best practices. In addition to delivering support to local organizations, Teach For All maximizes local impact on educational need by directly connecting the teaching participants and alumni of its international network programs through conferences and online forums.
Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusiveness
We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive organization that inspires individuals of all backgrounds – across nationalities, races, ethnicity, religions, political views, economic backgrounds, sexual orientations, physical disabilities, languages, ages, genders, and prior experiences – to bring their full selves to the work of ensuring educational opportunity for all.
In order to maximize our effectiveness in fulfilling Teach For All's mission, we also feel it is important to focus on increasing representation and inclusiveness with respect to two dimensions in particular: we prioritize diversity of geography because this can help us quickly understand and connect with the diverse cultures and geographies of the world. We also prioritize increasing the representation and inclusiveness of team members who themselves have experienced the inequities we're working to address by nature of sharing the background (e.g. economic, racial and ethnic, religious) of the most disadvantaged groups in their countries.
