Role summary

Working as a careers guidanceprofessional at the Dubai Campus the post holder will haveresponsibility for delivering careers advice and guidance andcareer development learning to students at all levels of study. Thepost holder will be expected to design and deliver programmes thatimprove the graduate outcomes of students in partnership withProgramme Directors and Careers Network colleagues; and developaction plans for Programmes within their caseload.

The post holder will work with the CareersNetwork and Employer Engagement and Employability Skills Manager onthe implementation of the Careers Network Employability Strategyacross the Dubai campus. They will draw upon their expertise ingraduate recruitment the graduate labour market and employmentsectors the student experience and career aspirations of studentsin the UAE to provide a service that enhances the employabilityskills of our students and engages employers academics studentgroups and alumni.

As a member of staff workingwith the Careers Network the Universitys multiawardwinningcareers service the post holder will play an importantrole in helping the University to meet its overall targets inrelation to graduate employability and working collaboratively witha range of colleagues in Careers Network to meet shared objectives.

Main Duties

General

• Promotes equality andvalues diversity acting as a role model and fostering an inclusiveworking culture.

ServiceProvision

• Providing careersadvice and guidance to students and graduates.
• Developing and delivering employabilityrelated seminars and workshops.
• Developingaction plans in partnership with Programmes and in collaborationwith Employer Relations and Employability Skills Manager andundertaking activity that meets the requirements of these plans andthat can demonstrate impact.
• Analysing datafrom sources such as Graduate Outcomes and Career Registration andworking with the Careers Consultant to develop the employabilitystrategy for the College.
• Supporting theUniversity and the College towards a positive performance againstGraduate Outcomes; ensuring best practice is being adopted inrelation to comparator universities and employment trends withinthe region.
• Working in partnership withacademic and professional services colleagues and students todevelop and deliver a variety of employability services andinitiatives; ensuring that services are of high quality in linewith institutional expectations and professional standards such asthe AGCAS code of practice and is compliant with relevantlegislation and University guidelines.
• Identifying areas for improvement in practicespolicies and technology and working with colleagues to implementthat improvement.
• Organising events engagingemployers speakers and external contacts in partnership withcareers tutors.
• Creating resources andinformation tailored to support the careers provision.

Dissemination &Communication

• Responding tostudent enquiries as part of the Dubai Student Hub as well asenquiries directed to Careers Service and Student Experience andWellbeing Team. Providing reports and responding to requests fordata as required such as in response to Ministry of EducationEducation Committee and wider Careers Network Colleagues.
• Identifying trends affecting students/graduateemployability and supporting the initiation of action and creationof innovative solutions.
• Supporting theidentification and development of web based and online resourcesand careers information for various purposes.
• Maintaining and developing positivestakeholder relations (academics students staff employers and otherpotential partners). In particular establishing effectivepartnerships with employers alumni and local networks to enhancethe careers provision in Dubai and the UAE.
• Responding proactively to enquiries from allstakeholders and identifying potential internal and externalcollaborations that could enhance the employability of students.

Staff Development/ Resourcemanagement

• Supporting thedevelopment and delivery of employability related trainingprovision for colleagues within the university and Careers Network.
• Contributing towards resources planning withthe Employer Relationship and Employability Skills Manager andappropriate working groups; promoting cost effectiveness and valuefor money for the University.
• Beingresponsible for the management of a budget in relation to a projector an event.
• Overseeing the Student CasualWorking process including line management delivering assessmentcentres payroll administration and liaising with teams to managetheir requests.

Otherduties

• Contributing todevelopment and delivery of centralised Careers Network activitiesand services and undertaking occasional weekend and evening work.
• Contributing to quality audits accreditationexercises and providing information for rankings surveys;collecting service data and evaluations in order to inform thefuture direction of the service.
• Belonging toAGCAS and contributing as appropriate to its discussions listsspecialist committees and working groups training writing andresearch activities.
• Undertaking other dutiesas may from timetotime be determined by the Head of StudentExperience and Wellbeing.

Person Specification

• Educated to degree level.
• A recognised careers guidance qualificatione.g. PG Dip. or QCG or equivalent.
• Experienceof delivering careers advice and guidance
• Proven experience of working with students orgraduates and the ability to provide them with an excellentcustomer experience.
• Project managementskills.
• Strong communication and presentationskills.
• Evidence of ability to work underpressure to manage conflicting demands and meet challengingtargets.
• Evidence of being able to work on owninitiative and as part of a team.
• Awillingness and ability to network and to generate new leads andprojects.
• Evidence of strong problem solvingabilities.
