What are my responsibilities?

General Responsibilities

• Be the Engineering face for customer projects in the Logistics automation domains of Baggage Handling Systems (BHS) and Cargo Handling Systems (CHS).
• Ensure technical compliance with customer/project requirements for Baggage/Cargo handling system solutions from the bid phase to the handover phase.
• Lead and coordinate with all Engineering trades (e.g., Steelworks, Mechanical, Electrical, PLC, and IT) that contribute their work to a project.
• Work alongside the Project Manager in customer projects with trade-specific project leads reporting to PME.
• Flow down requirements / technical changes to trade-specific project leads.
• Apply, enforce and improve the application of standard products/components, tools and processes from lessons learnt across all projects.

Bid Specific Phase

• Verify and confirm the Material Flow solution provided by the System Architect for technical executability.
• Ensure correct specification for non-standard components used in the layout forming a base for procurement (SCM)
• Support bid management in proper allocation of technical tender requirements, participating in technical reviews for offer scope, review of LOA documents such as heatmap, Risk Register, project schedule, etc."
• Ensure correct quantity estimates of Engineering hours / BOQ / BOM (along with responsible project-specific trade leads) in alignment with the bid and offered execution schedule.
• Provide the Bid Project Manager and Scheduler with a viable Engineering works sequence/phasing/zoning.
• Verify the availability of Engineering resources for project execution in close alignment with the Engineering Manager and Engineering discipline heads.

Execution Specific Phase

• Ultimately be the Lead Engineer as a single point of contact within a project from the Project start, covering the design phase and handover phase for successful project delivery.
• Take over and verify the material flow solution provided after-sales negotiations and contract sign-off for technical executability (SPINE Milestone 200.2 as a result of cross-trade layout review after contract award PM80/PM100).
• Manage continuous alignment with HQ/R&D and SCM to ensure correct specification for non-standard components used in the layout forming a base for procurement (SCM) or component development (HQ/R&D).
• Ensure flow down of technical contract requirements/contract changes to trade-specific sub-project leads.
• Approval of SPINE execution milestones (200.3 to 200.F) for downstream BOQ processing by SCM and Project Management.
• Organize/participate in Engineering reviews for Engineering scope and minute review results (along with trade-specific sub-project leads).
• Continuous monitoring and documenting quantity and scope changes (along with trade-specific sub-project leads) as well as continuous review of resulting cost development.
• Provide the Project Manager and Scheduler with a viable Engineering work status and monitor and report engineering progress and Engineering EAC estimate.
• Ensure resource availability in alignment with Engineering (department) heads and maintain engineering resource plan for project completion.
• Continuously ensure proper documentation and change management regarding all Engineering changes, including necessary approvals/clearances.
• Ensure planned progress for Design approvals from stakeholders is achieved by close coordination, setting up Engineering workshops for prior alignment with the Client/Consultant and highlighting any delays and deviations to the Project Manager and Scheduler.
• Hand over to the Integration Manager for acceptance during/after the commissioning phase.
• Lead the closeout phase in close coordination with Site Management, Quality Department, and Project Management team to ensure a successful handover and attain timely project TOC from the client.

What do I need to qualify for the role?

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic Engineering or any relevant field.
• Minimum 8 years of design experience with exposure to installation practices in the Logistics automation domain, specifically in Baggage Handling or Cargo Handling Systems.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a Project Management Engineer or Project Technical Engineer handling a mid-size value of BHS/CHS projects.
• Knowledge of processes within material flow systems, such as those in airports (baggage handling systems, cargo systems), is a must.
• Hands-on experience with software such as REVIT, AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint is essential.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical equipment safety standards and basic Electrical and structural engineering concepts is a must.
• Engaged team player who can work independently and prioritize tasks for the team in a fast-paced and dynamic project environment.
• Excellent collaborative and organizational skills and effective interpersonal skills to communicate with internal & external stakeholders effectively.
• Strong language skills in English, both verbal and written.
