The Site Quantity Surveyor (QS)for a facade and glazing fabrication company is responsible formanaging all aspects of cost control financial management andcontract administration onsite. This role ensures that projects arecompleted within budget on schedule and to the highest qualitystandards. The Site QS will collaborate closely with the projectmanagement team site engineers subcontractors and clients providingessential support to ensure the successful delivery of facade andglazing projects.

KeyResponsibilities:

  1. CostManagement andControl

    • Preparedetailed cost plans budgets and financial forecasts for facade andglazing projects.
    • Conduct sitemeasurements takeoffs and material quantity calculations fromdrawings and specifications.
    • Monitorand control project costs ensuring adherence to the approved budgetand financialtargets.

  2. ValuationsandPayments

    • Prepareand submit accurate interim valuations and final accounts forproject works.
    • Assess and certifysubcontractor and supplier payment applications ensuring compliancewith contract terms.
    • Resolve paymentdisputes with subcontractors and clients ensuring timely andaccuratepayments.

  3. ContractAdministration

    • Administerand manage contracts ensuring compliance with terms conditions andproject specifications.
    • Prepare andreview contract documents including bills of quantities (BOQs)schedules of rates and contractvariations.
    • Manage variations claimsand extensions of time negotiating settlements and minimizingadditionalcosts.

  4. Procurementand SubcontractorManagement

    • Assistin the procurement of subcontractors materials and equipmentensuring competitive pricing andquality.
    • Evaluate and awardsubcontractor packages managing their performance and ensuringtimely delivery of services andmaterials.
    • Maintain good workingrelationships with subcontractors resolving any issues and ensuringcompliance with projectstandards.

  5. RiskManagement

    • Identifyassess and manage potential risks to project costs and timelinesimplementing mitigationstrategies.
    • Maintain and update arisk register monitoring risk factors throughout the projectlifecycle.
    • Provide advice on riskallocation and ensure appropriate insurance and bonding are inplace.

  6. DocumentationandReporting

    • Maintainaccurate and comprehensive project documentation includingcontracts correspondence variations and financialrecords.
    • Prepare and submit regularcost reports cash flow forecasts and financial statements toproject stakeholders.
    • Ensurecompliance with industry standards regulations and best practicesin facade and glazingfabrication.

  7. QualityControl andCompliance

    • Ensurethat all work complies with quality standards projectspecifications and regulatoryrequirements.
    • Conduct regular siteinspections and audits to verify compliance with project standardsand safety regulations.
    • Collaboratewith the project team to implement quality control measures andcontinuous improvementinitiatives.

  8. TeamCollaboration andSupport

    • Workclosely with the site management team providing support andguidance on costrelatedissues.
    • Assist in the training anddevelopment of junior quantity surveyors and other sitestaff.
    • Participate in site meetingsproviding insights and recommendations on cost management projectprogress and clientrequirements.
