AbouttheRole

Reportingto the VP, Chief Data & Technology Officer, the Director,Head of Cyber Security will be responsible for administering andmaintaining all information security policies and controls toensure information assets and technologies are protected andmonitored against emerging threats at alltimes.

TheDirector supports the organization in identifying, developing,implementing, and maintaining processes, controls and technologiesacross the enterprise to ensure information and informationtechnology risks are within acceptable levels as defined by theCDTO, CEO and the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).Workingwith the CDTO and team,thisrole is also responsible for maintaining and executing a securitystrategy, intended to drive situational awareness, collaboration,deliver meaningful services, and create unity and consensus on whatefforts are important to more effectively address threats across adiverse, complex technology environment; and ensuring vendorsmaintain the same securityposture.

Specificaccountabilitiesinclude:

Workwith the CDTO to develop a security vision and program along withsecurity projects that address identified risks and businesssecurityrequirements.
Define,communicate and lead security initiatives both internal to theorganization, but also initiatives that have impact on theindustry.
Leadthe development of Information Security standards and proceduresconsistent with leading edge Information Security practices and theBoard-approved Security Policy and ComplianceFramework.
Driveforward the cybersecurity mandate with internal, external,regulatory stakeholders to develop and execute a cybersecuritystrategy.
Managethe process of gathering, analyzing and assessing the current andfuture threat landscape, as well as providing the CDTO with arealistic overview of risks and threats in the enterpriseenvironment.
Recommendand coordinate the implementation of technical controls to supportand enforce defined securitypolicies.
Manageoutsourced vendors that provide information security functions forcompliance with contracted service-level agreements and definedpolicies.
Manageproduction issues and incidents, and participate in problem andchange managementforums.
Research,evaluate, design, test, recommend or plan the implementation of newor updated information security hardware or software, and analyzeits impact on the existing environment; provide technical expertisefor the administration of securitytools.
Workas a liaison with vendors to establish mutually acceptable bestpractices, contracts and service-levelagreements.
Developand implement controls and configurations aligned with securitypolicies and auditrequirements.
Leadand coordinate operational components of threat and cyber attackmanagement, including monitoring, detection, response andreporting.
Design,coordinate and oversee security testing procedures to verify thesecurity of systems, networks and applications, and manage theremediation of identifiedrisks.
Providesecurity communication, awareness and training for staff, which mayrange from senior leaders to fieldstaff.
Leadthe day-to-day activities of threat and vulnerability management,identify risk tolerances, recommend treatment plans and communicateinformation about residualrisk.

Qualifications

  • Astrong technical background in information security controls, aswell as an ability to work with the broader organization andbusiness management to align priorities and plans with keytechnical objectives.

  • TheDirector will act as an empowered representative of the CDTO duringIT security planning initiatives to ensure that security measuresare incorporated into IT plans and that service expectations areclearly defined. The Director will also be responsible for workingwith members to balance real-world risks with business drivers suchas speed, agility, flexibility andperformance.
  • 5+years of experience in security management, preferably in theP&C insurance or bankingindustry
  • 7+ years in technologyfield
  • Undergraduate degree in a relatedfield
  • Industry Accreditation: CISSP, CISA, CISM would be anasset
  • Experience with IT contracts isessential
  • Experience with cloud-based security and onpremise
  • Strong leadership skills and leading within complex businesses andoutsourcedrelationships
  • Knowledge of information security management frameworks (ISO27001), SOC2Compliance
  • Strong organizational planning and communication skills; attentiontodetail
  • Results-focused approach and strong workethic
  • Energized by a fast-pacedenvironment
  • Able to maintain a high level of integrity and discretion inhandling confidentialinformation
  • Comfortable and excels within remote workenvironments
