Description:

The Civil Inspector - Marine plays a critical role in overseeing and ensuring the quality and safety of construction projects in marine environments, particularly those involving marine infrastructure. This role requires a specialized understanding of both civil engineering principles and the unique challenges of working in marine settings.

Key accountabilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  1. Interacting with clients and contractor staff to determine and verify project requirements.
  2. Monitoring construction work on a daily basis, interacting with contractors, sub-contractors, and laboratory staff.
  3. Controlling site inspection and testing, maintaining inspection reports and site test records.
  4. Preparing instructions, specifications, reports, and cost estimates.
  5. Reviewing and approving design documents and construction plans and procedures.
  6. Performing civil and structural tests.
  7. Providing general inspection on all construction labor and subcontracted tasks to ensure professional workmanship.
  8. Identifying non-conforming works, generating reports and corrective actions, and coordinating responses.
  9. Working in conjunction with engineers to solve project design problems, performing basic design calculations as required.
  10. Conducting technical feasibility studies and site investigations.
  11. Managing utility diversions.
  12. Following safe work practices and adhering to company guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.
  13. Completing all work in line with Stantec Core Values and in accordance with the Stantec Quality Systems and Project Quality Procedures.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate should have a bachelor's degree in civil engineering with at least 10 years of experience in marine infrastructure and water infrastructure projects. Experience with Dubai Municipality infrastructure projects is advantageous.
