KeyResponsibilities

  • Direct the company’spolicies and objectives involving state, and local governmentrelations. Timely resolve of business issues involving governmentand authorities at the state and local level within the U.S. WestCoast. Where relevant, provide timely advice and forward-thinkingsolutions to business managers.
  • Tracklegislation and engage, as necessary.
  • Overalllobbying responsibility at the state and local level to protect theinterests of the A.P. Moller-MaerskGroup.
  • Maintain and nurture relationships withkey legislators, staff members, agency representatives,professional organizations, and port authorities to protect andpositively influence APMM’s legislative, regulatory, andreputational interests on the U.S. West Coast, with special focusat the state and local levels, as coordinated with the Head of U.S.Government Relations.
  • Assist with theestablishment of corporate strategies, policies, andplans.
  • Assist APMT Los Angeles seniormanagement team with labor relations, as/ifnecessary.
  • Develop and maintain local communityrelations, including but not limited to residents and environmentalgroups.
  • Ensure that key internal stakeholdersare consulted and kept well-informed of potential threats andopportunities.
  • Represent APMM in selectedprofessional organizations andassociations.
  • Manage state and local levelpolitical contributions, ensuring continued compliance withstatutory and internal requirements.
  • Managestate level lobbying firms, as applicable, and as agreed with Headof U.S. Government Relations, with focus on maintaining adequateAPMM flexibility, options and confidentiality – and firmcontrol of costs.

Who We Are LookingFor

  • Theideal candidate should have 8-10 years of government relationsand/or maritime transportationexperience.
  • Bachelor’s orMaster’s degree. Political Science, economics, or lawpreferred.
  • The personal maturity to develop andmaintain professional relationships with business colleagues,policy makers and authorities, based on trust and the pursuit ofbusiness results for mutual benefit.
  • Strongcommunication and public speaking skills, as well as excellentwriting skills.
  • The sense of urgency requiredto reach timely results for business.
